Prestwood Local Nature Reserve
Prestwood Local Nature Reserve or Prestwood (Picnic Site) is a Local Nature Reserve in Prestwood in Buckinghamshire. It is in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The site is owned by Wycombe District Council and leased to the Chiltern Society. The site was a dump for motor vehicles until 1976, when it was acquired by Wycombe Council. The Chiltern Society took over the management in 2013. It is steeply sloping chalk grassland with a diverse range of species, including birds such bullfinches, blackcaps and garden warblers, are butterflies such as dingy skipper, dingy, grizzled skippers and green hairstreaks. There is a car park for the site and picnic tables off Hampden Road near Perks Lane. References

Prestwood is a village in Buckinghamshire, England. It is located in the Chiltern Hills, about half a mile west of its post town, Great Missenden. History Early history and creation of parish The village name is Old English language, Anglo-Saxon in origin, and means "Priest-wood". There is evidence of settlement in Prestwood from the Middle Ages, when the village was mainly covered in oak, beech and ash trees. ''Hatches Farm'' is one of the buildings that dates from the medieval period.The Prestwood Society history display (displayed to public at Prestwood Village Hall) By 1849, more of the woodland had been cleared to make way for agriculture and common land, around which approximately 100 houses now existed. Many villagers worked in cottage industries such as lace making, and a wheelwright was also present in the village.
