Prestatyn Town F.C.
Prestatyn Town Football Club () is a Welsh professional football club based in Prestatyn, Denbighshire. They play in the . History Early years Records show that football has been played in Prestatyn since the early 1890s with games being played on an undeveloped field on Marine Road. Other pitches around the town were also utilised but by the 1930s when the club settled on Bastion Road ground behind what is now the Central Beach Club. The early history of Prestatyn Football Club is somewhat sketchy as there were many teams who lasted just a couple of seasons before folding. Prestatyn Town played their first game on 20 October 1910 when they travelled to Rhyl Amateurs, winning 3–2. One Prestatyn side did enjoy some form of longevity, winning the North Wales Coast FA Junior Cup in 1928–29. Bastion Road
Bastion Road, also known as Bastion Gardens, is a Soccer-specific stadium, football stadium in Prestatyn, Wales. It is currently used for football (soccer), football matches and is the home ground of Prestatyn Town F.C. The stadium holds up to 2,300 people, although the record attendance was 1,280. History Prestatyn moved to their present site in 1969 when their previous ground at the rear of the Central Beach Club (the large public house that can be seen directly opposite the ground) was sold off for development. For many years the new ground was relatively undeveloped with the only building being the dressing room block which for its time was modern and well-equipped with spacious dressing rooms, a tea bar and storage rooms - but the rest of the ground fell some way short. 2005–06 Welsh Alliance League
The 2005–06 Welsh Alliance League is the 22nd season of the Welsh Alliance League, which is in the third level of the Welsh football league system, Welsh football pyramid. The league consists of sixteen teams and concluded with Prestatyn Town F.C., Prestatyn Town as champions and promoted to the 2006–07 Cymru Alliance, Cymru Alliance. Cemaes Bay F.C., Cemaes Bay were relegated to the Gwynedd League and Penmaenmawr Phoenix were relegated to the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Football League, Clwyd League. Clwyd League
The Clwyd Football League was a football league formed in 1974 as an amalgamation of the Dyserth League and the Halkyn Mountain League. The top division was at different periods at the second, third and fourth levels of the Welsh football league system in North Wales. The league ran until 2011 when a split led to the formation of the Clwyd East Football League comprising Flintshire teams under the North East Wales Football Association and the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Football League, made up of Denbighshire, Conwy county and Vale of Conwy sides, under the North Wales Coast Football Association. The 2016–17 Cymru Alliance (known as the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance for sponsorship reasons) was the 2016–17 season of the top football league in North Wales. Mirroring its South Wales counterpart the Welsh Football League Division One, the 16-team division forms half of the second tier of the Welsh football league system and falls one level below the nationwide Welsh Premier League. The season began on 12 August 2016 and concluded on 22 April 2017. On 11 March 2017, Prestatyn Town defeated Gresford Athletic 1–0 to clinch the league title and promotion to the 2017–18 Welsh Premier League. 2019–20 Cymru North
The 2019–20 Cymru North was the inaugural season of the Cymru North, which is in the second level of the Welsh football pyramid. The season had been scheduled to finish on 25 April but due to the COVID-19 pandemic no games were played after 7 March. In May 2020 the Cymru North was officially ended after consultation between the Football Association of Wales and the clubs. Prestatyn Town were confirmed as champions but because they failed to gain a Tier 1 licence, runners-up Flint Town United were promoted to the Cymru Premier. Porthmadog, Corwen and Llanfair United were relegated. The league consisted of seventeen teams with the champions promoted to the Cymru Premier and the bottom four teams relegated to a regional division of FAW League One. Lee Jones (footballer, Born 1973)
Philip Lee Jones (born 29 May 1973) is a Welsh football coach and former player who played as a forward. Career Born in Wrexham, he began his career with his hometown club. In March 1992, he moved to Liverpool, aged 18. However, he only managed four appearances in five years, in part due to suffering two broken legs. He was loaned out to Crewe Alexandra, twice back to Wrexham, and finally to Tranmere Rovers where he scored five goals in eight games. Tranmere signed Jones for £100,000 in June 1997. He spent three years with Tranmere before being released in May 2000. In July, he moved to First Division club Barnsley on a free transfer, but in 2002 he returned to Wrexham for a fourth spell. In the summer of 2004 he was released, subsequently joining League of Wales side Caernarfon Town.
