Pressure Sounds
Pressure Sounds is a British DIY record label, specializing in releasing reggae music. Run by Pete Holdsworth, it is one of the most enduring reggae labels in the UK, specializing in reissuing obsolete tunes. It was originally a subsidiary of On-U Sound. A couple of labels are closely associated with PS: * Maximum Pressure which specialises in 1980s dancehall; * Green Tea, which releases a broad variety of reggae music. Enos McLeod
Enos McLeod (born 1946) is a Jamaican reggae singer and music producer whose career dates to the mid-1960s. Biography McLeod was born in 1946 in Trenchtown, Kingston, Jamaica, and before his career in music he trained as a cabinet-maker and a boxer.Larkin, p.192 His debut release was "Mackie", which was produced by Sid Bucknor, who at the time was the resident engineer at Studio One. Under Bucknor's tutelage, McLeod learned the basics of record production, soon having success with late 1960s releases such as "Young Love" by Lloyd Clarke.Thompson, p. 314 His production work included recordings with some of Jamaica's top singers, including Gregory Isaacs, Ken Boothe, and The Gaylads. Linval Roy Carter (3 September 1951 – 11 September 2013), better known as Prince Jazzbo, was a Jamaican reggae and dancehall deejay and producer. He popularised the use of the melodica (an instrument at that time primarily used in Jamaica to teach music to schoolchildren) in reggae music. Career Phil Pratt worked at Studio One (record label), Studio One for Coxsone Dodd as a box-loader during the rocksteady period when Lee "Scratch" Perry, Lee Perry was operating there, before moving to the United Kingdom in the early 1960s. Pratt returned to Jamaica in 1965, and as a singer, he recorded in 1967 a song called "Safe Travel" together with Hemsley Morris released on his own Wiggle Spoon label.
