President Gayoom
Maumoon Abdul Gayoom ( ; born Abdulla Maumoon Khairi; 29 December 1937) is a Maldivian politician, statesman, diplomat and scholar who served as the 3rd president of the Maldives from 1978 to 2008. He previously served as the Minister of Transport (Maldives), Minister of Transport from 1977 to 1978, and as the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations from 1976 to 1977. The longest-serving Maldivian president, Gayoom was the longest-serving leader in Asia. Gayoom was born and raised in Malé. After serving as a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria, he returned to the Maldives in 1971 and worked as a teacher at Aminiya School. Ibrahim Nasir Rannabandeyri Kilegefan (; ; 2 September 1926 – 22 November 2008), , commonly known as Ibrahim Nasir, was a Maldivians, Maldivian politician who served as the Prime Minister of the Maldives from 1957 to 1968 under the monarchy, and later the first President of the Maldives, President of the Second Republic of Maldives from 1968 to 1978. Nasir served two terms (one term consisting of 5 years), then he decided to retire, even though the People's Majlis voted him in for a third term. Dunya Maumoon (born 20 March 1970) is a Maldivian politician who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2013 to 2016 of the Maldives. Personal life Dunya Maumoon was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives from 2013- 2016. The prime minister of the Maldives was the head of government of the Maldives, during the Sultanate and the first first and second republics between 1835 and 1975. The last Prime Minister was Ahmed Zaki, during the presidency of Ibrahim Nasir. On 6 March 1975, Zaki was removed from office and the position was abolished. 1973 Maldivian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in the Maldives in September 1973. The elections took the form of a referendum on the candidacy of incumbent president Ibrahim Nasir, who was re-elected. Background Nasir had originally been elected for a four-year term in 1968. However, in 1972 a constitutional amendment was passed by the Majlis to extend the presidential term to five years. The constitution required that the President be selected by the Majlis and then their candidacy confirmed through a referendum. Makunudhoo (Haa Dhaalu Atoll)
Makunudhoo () is one of the inhabited islands of Haa Dhaalu Atoll administrative division and geographically part of ''Māmakunudhoo'' Atoll ( Malcolm Atoll) in the north of the Maldives. It is the westernmost inhabited island in the Maldives. History Historically, several ships have been wrecked on the treacherous reefs surrounding the island. The most famous wreck was that of the English spice ship Hayston on 20 July 1819. Several tons of cloves were salvaged and later distributed to the military and aristocrats in Male'. Makunudhoo is also famous as the island where Vazir Ibrahim Famuladeyri Takurufaanu who plotted to assassinate Sultan Muhammed Ghiya'as ud-din was exiled to in 1767. Aminiya School
Aminiya School is a primary and secondary school in Malé, the capital of the Maldives. It was the first girls' secondary school in the country and remained the only all-girls school until 14 June 2011. History It was founded in 1944 by Mohamed Amin Didi to accommodate female students from Majeediyya School (then known as "Madhrasathul Saniyya") which became an all-boy institution. The school is divided into four houses, namely ''Aminarani'', ''Dhainkanba'', ''Raadhafathi'' and ''Rehendhi.'' Till 2011, the school remained as a secondary school for only girls. In 2011 the school established Primary, Grade 1 making it both a primary and secondary school. Now there are grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 for primary, and grades 8, 9 and 10 for secondary. The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) is a public research university located in Zaria, Nigeria, Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. It was opened in 1962 as the University of Northern Nigeria. The World Health Assembly (WHA) is the forum through which the World Health Organization (WHO) is governed by its 194 World Health Organization#Membership, member states. It is the world's highest health policy setting body and is composed of health ministers from member states. The members of the WHA generally meet every year in May in Geneva at the Palace of Nations, the location of WHO Headquarters. Sheikh Abdul Gayoom Ibrahim (; 18 October 1897 – 30 April 1982), commonly known as Maafaiygey Dhon Seedhi, was a Maldivian politician and judge who served as Attorney General of the Maldive Islands from 1950 to 1951. Abdul Gayoom was the father of presidents, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
