Pratipada () or Prathama () is the Sanskrit word for "first", and is the first day in the lunar fortnight (''Paksha'') of the Hindu calendar. Each month has two Pratipada days, being the first day of the "bright" (''Shukla'') and of the "dark" (''Krishna'') fortnights respectively. Prathama Blood Centre (''Prathama'' means ''first'' in Sanskrit) is a blood bank situated at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India jointly established in 2000 by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the Advanced Transfusion Medicine Research Foundation as a non-profit organisation.
