Prasanta Banerjee is an Indian football midfielder who played for India national football team in the 1984 Asian Cup. He is one of the few players who has captained and won trophies in all three big clubs viz. East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, and Mohammedan Sporting. Playing career He started his career at Kalighat in 1975. He joined East Bengal in 1976, and captained the team in 1979–80. Later he joined Mohammedan Sporting followed by Mohun Bagan. He has also captained Bengal in Santosh Trophy and India. He was Player of the Year in 1983. He also played for Mohun Bagan where he managed the club in the I-League. Prasanta Sur
Prasanta Sur (; 1 January 1923 – 29 February 2008) was an Indian politician, and the convenor of the Kolkata district Left Front (West Bengal), Left Front committee who became the first Left Front Mayor of Kolkata during 1969. A member of the state committee of Communist Party of India (Marxist), Sur was the urban development minister in the first Left Front government in 1977. Later, he also held key portfolios like health, refugee rehabilitation etc. He died on 29 February 2008, aged 85, after suffering from age-related problems. Family background and early life Sur's father was Rai Saheb Nagendra Kumar Sur, a member of the landed gentry of (erstwhile) east Pakistan. The Rai Saheb disowned him after Prasanta Sur joined the Communist movement in Kolkata. Prashanta Nanda (born 2 May 1947) is an Indian director, actor and politician from the state of Odisha. He is currently a Member of Parliament at Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, for Odisha. Prasanta Kumar Pattanaik (born 5 April 1943), is an Indian-American emeritus professor at the Department of Economics at the University of California. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society. Along with Amartya Sen and Kenneth Arrow, Pattanaik is an advisory editor for the journal ''Social Choice and Welfare''. Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis OBE, FNA, FASc, FRS (29 June 1893 – 28 June 1972) was an Indian scientist and statistician. He is best remembered for the Mahalanobis distance, a statistical measure, and for being one of the members of the first Planning Commission of free India. He made pioneering studies in anthropometry in India. He founded the Indian Statistical Institute, and contributed to the design of large-scale sample surveys. For his contributions, Mahalanobis has been considered the Father of statistics in India. Prasanta Bihari Mukharji (1909 - 1984) was the 16th Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. He served as Chief Justice from 1970 to 1972. He authored numerous books mainly on law and philosophy. Mukharji also held the Tagore Law Professorship at the Calcutta University. Family Mukharji was the eldest son of Rai Bahadur Bejoy Bihari Mukharji.
