Pranjit Singha Roy is a politician from Tripura, India. In 2013 assembly elections, he represented Radhakishorpur (Vidhan Sabha constituency), Radhakishorpur constituency in Gomati district in Tripura Legislative Assembly. In 2016, he was one of the six MLAs from Indian National Congress who joined All India Trinamool Congress, due to unhappiness with party because of allying Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election. 2017 Indian Presidential Election
A Presidential election was held in India on 17 July 2017 with the votes counted and the results announced on 20 July 2017. President Pranab Mukherjee, whose term of office was due to expire on 24 July 2017, declined to seek re-election due to health concerns and old age. Governor of Bihar Ram Nath Kovind of the Bharatiya Janata Party had the backing of the governing National Democratic Alliance coalition, and went up against opposition candidate Meira Kumar of the Indian National Congress in the vote. Kovind secured roughly two-thirds of the votes from the electoral college of elected members of federal, state and union territory legislatures and was elected to a five-year term as President. 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election
A Legislative Assembly election was held in 2016 for the 294 seats (out of 295 seats) of the '' Vidhan Sabha'' (Vidhān Sabhā) in the state of West Bengal in India. The All India Trinamool Congress under Mamata Banerjee won 211 seats, and thus was reelected with an enhanced majority. Like in the 2011 election, the poll was held in six phases, with the first phase divided into two days.
