Pramod Rae
Pramod Kumar Rae (born 27 October 1951) is a Fijian trade unionist and political organizer of Indian descent. He was born in Suva and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree and Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of the South Pacific. He has served for many years as General Secretary of the National Federation Party (NFP), and worked to revive the popularity of the party, once a major player on the political scene but left without House of Representatives of Fiji, parliamentary representation in the elections in Fiji, general elections of 1999 Fijian general election, 1999, 2001 Fijian general election, 2001, and 2006 Fijian general election, 2006. Rae was an unsuccessful candidate for the Suva City (Open Constituency, Fiji), Suva City Open constituencies, Open Constituency in the 1999 election. Fiji
Fiji, officially the Republic of Fiji, is an island country in Melanesia, part of Oceania in the South Pacific Ocean. It lies about north-northeast of New Zealand. The Fijian coup d'état of December 2006 was a coup d'état in Fiji carried out by Commodore (rank), Commodore Frank Bainimarama against Prime Minister of Fiji, Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase and President Josefa Iloilo. It was the culmination of a 2005–06 Fijian political crisis, political crisis that had begun the previous year when the Qarase government introduced three bills to the Parliament of Fiji, Fijian Parliament. High Court Of Fiji
The High Court of Fiji is one of three courts that was established by Chapter 9 of the 1997 Constitution of Fiji — the others being the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. The Constitution empowered Parliament to create other courts; these were to be subordinate to the High Court, which was authorized to oversee all proceedings of such courts. The High Court had unlimited original jurisdiction to hear and determine any civil or criminal proceedings under any law and such other original jurisdiction as is conferred on it under the Constitution. The High Court consists of the Chief Justice and at least ten (and no more than eighteen) puisne judges. Ganesh Chand
Dr. Ganeshwar Chand, better known as Ganesh Chand, is a Fijian academic and former politician of Indian descent. He was Vice-Chancellor of Solomon Islands National University from 2019 to 2022. He was a founder of the University of Fiji and serves as a trustee of the Fiji Institute of Applied Studies and as editor of Fijian Studies: A Journal of Contemporary Fiji and the Global Girmit Institute. He was Vice-Chancellor of the Fiji National University from February 2010 until he left his post after a disagreement with the University Council in December 2014.
