Southern Carpathians
The Southern Carpathians (also known as the Transylvanian Alps; ro, Carpații Meridionali ; hu, Déli-Kárpátok) are a group of mountain ranges located in southern Romania. They cover the part of the Carpathian Mountains located between the Prahova River in the east and the Timiș and Cerna Rivers in the west. To the south they are bounded by the Balkan mountain range in eastern Serbia. Florești is a commune in Prahova County, Muntenia, Romania. It is composed of five villages: Cap Roșu, Călinești, Cătina, Florești, and Novăcești. The commune is located in the western part of the county, on the banks of the Prahova River. The DN1 road passes just east of the commune; it connects Florești to the county seat, Ploiești ( to the southeast), and to Brașov ( to the north).
