Poznań Philharmonic
Tadeusz Szeligowski Poznań Philharmonic is a regional cultural institution founded in 1947 on the initiative of Tadeusz Szeligowski as the State Philharmonic in Poznań; one of the two philharmonics in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. History The inauguration of the Philharmonic's activities took place on 10 November 1947 under the direction of Stanisław Wisłocki. Since March 1950, the Poznań Nightingales Choir, headed by Stefan Stuligrosz, has been operating at the Philharmonic. The Philharmonic is connected with Polish contemporary music festivals "Poznań Spring", another initiative of Szeligowski. The concert hall of the Philharmonic is the Hall of the Adam Mickiewicz University, considered to be one of the best in terms of acoustics in Poland. An orchestra (; ) is a large instrumental ensemble typical of classical music, which combines instruments from different families. Andrey Boreyko
Andrey Boreyko (, ; born 22 July 1957) is a Polish people, Polish-Russian conductor. Biography Boreyko has Polish ancestry on his father's side and Russian ancestry on his mother's side. Boreyko was born in Saint Petersburg. At the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in Saint Petersburg, Boreyko studied conducting (with Elisabeta Kudriavtseva and Alexander Dmitriev), graduating summa cum laude. In 1987 he won diplomas and prizes at The Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors in Katowice, and he was a prize winner in 1989 at the Kirill Kondrashin conductors' competition in Amsterdam. Boreyko was music director of the Jenaer Philharmonie, Jena Philharmonic between 1998 and 2003. Henryk Szeryng
Henryk Bolesław Szeryng (usually pronounced ''HEN-r-ik SHEH-r-in-g'') (22 September 19183 March 1988) was a Polish- Mexican violinist. Early years He was born in Warsaw, Poland on 22 September 1918 into a wealthy Jewish family. The surname "Szeryng" is a Polish transliteration of his Yiddish surname, which nowadays would be spelled "Shering" in the modern Yiddish-to-English transliteration. Szeryng started piano and harmony lessons with his mother when he was 5, and at age 7 turned to the violin, receiving instruction from Maurice Frenkel. After studying with Carl Flesch in Berlin (1929–1932), he went to Paris to continue his studies with Jacques Thibaud at the Conservatory, graduating with a premier prix in 1937. Carlo Zecchi (8 July 190331 August 1984) was an Italian pianist, music teacher and Conductor (music), conductor. Zecchi was born in Rome. A pupil of F. Baiardi for piano and of L. Refice and A. Bustini for composition, he began his career as a concert pianist at only seventeen years of age. He later studied piano with Ferruccio Busoni and Artur Schnabel in Berlin. In 1938, he stopped playing the piano to study conducting with Hans Münch and Antonio Guarnieri. He led pianistic courses in Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome, and in Salzburg. Hermann Paul Maximilian Abendroth (19 January 1883 – 29 May 1956) was a German conductor. Early life Abendroth was born on 19 January 1883, at Frankfurt, the son of a bookseller. Several other members of the family were artists in diverse disciplines.
