Pozantı River
Pozantı (, formerly ) is a municipality and district of Adana Province, Turkey. Its area is 899 km2, and its population is 19,852 (2022). The town is in the highlands of Çukurova, and is a major gateway to the Mediterranean coasts. Pozantı stands in the foothills, at the bottom of one of the few passes through the mountains. The mayor is Ali Avan ( MHP). History Pozantı has had a number of names. In antiquity it was ''Pendonsis'' or ''Pendosis'', to the Arabs ''El Bedendum'', and finally ''Bozantı'' and ''Pozantı'' in Turkish. Standing at the entrance to a pass across the Taurus Mountains, Pendonsis was strategically important, as the gateway between the high plain of Anatolia and the low plain of Cilicia or Çukurova and the Middle East beyond. Crusades

Belemedik
Belemedik is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Pozantı, Adana Province, Turkey. Its population is 77 (2022). It was one of the important settlements on Toros Mountains during the early years of the 20th century and especially the World War I years. The village is inhabited by Tahtacı. Geography Belemedik is a secluded mountain village situated at the west bank of Çakıt River ( a tributary of the Seyhan River) in Toros Mountains. Akçatekir
Akçatekir is a neighbourhood of the municipality and district of Pozantı, Adana Province, Turkey. Its population is 1,622 (2022). Before the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (''belde''). Geography Akçatekir is from Pozantı and from Adana. Akçatekir is situated along the valley of Çakıt on the Taurus Mountains at an altitude of about . History The earliest settlements date back to 200 years ago. A sheikh from Turkestan founded a village which is slightly outside the present town. After the roads were constructed, the town was established in its present location. There were two quarters, in Akça (western portion) villagers lived all year long and in Bürücek (eastern portion) city dwellers (mainly from Adana and Tarsus) spent the summers, escaping from the heat of Çukurova (Cilicia). is an Arabic word variously translated as district, quarter, ward, or neighborhood in many parts of the Arab world, the Balkans, Western Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and nearby nations. Selim I
Selim I (; ; 10 October 1470 – 22 September 1520), known as Selim the Grim or Selim the Resolute (), was the List of sultans of the Ottoman Empire, sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1512 to 1520.
