The parish includes northern and eastern suburbs of Warrington, including Padgate, Fearnhead, Cinnamon Brow, Blackbrook, Longbarn, Bruche and Paddington. From northwards clockwise, it borders the parishes of Croft (at a point on a motorway junction), Birchwood, Woolston, the unparished area of Warrington, then the parish of Winwick. Padgate is a suburb of Warrington, in the civil parish of Poulton-with-Fearnhead, in the Warrington district, in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. History Overview Historically part of Lancashire, until 1838 Padgate was an area of farmland in the Fearnhead district. It was only with the establishment of a parish and the building of Christ Church Padgate that a recognisable community arose. Following boundary changes in 1974, Padgate, along with the rest of Warrington, became part of the county of Cheshire. It is now a largely residential, suburban district. It was the site of an R.A.F training camp and home of a teacher training college, now the Padgate Campus of the University of Chester. Warrington () is a town and unparished area in the Borough of Warrington, borough of the same name in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England, on the banks of the River Mersey. It is east of Liverpool, and west of Manchester. The population in 2019 was estimated at 165,456 for the town's urban area, and just over 210,014 for the entire borough, the latter being more than double that of 1968 when it became a New towns in the United Kingdom, new town. Croft is a village and civil parish in Borough of Warrington, Cheshire, England, about four miles north of Warrington town centre. At the 2001 census it had a population of 2,920. It is a semi-rural, residential district. Geography The village is on the northern edge of the borough of Warrington, north of the interchange of the M6 and M62 motorways, known as the Croft Interchange. It is close to the border with Merseyside and Greater Manchester, and historically was in Lancashire. It borders Culcheth to the east, Lowton to the north, Winwick to the west and Risley to the south. Winwick, Cheshire
Winwick is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Warrington, Cheshire, England. Located within the historic boundaries of Lancashire, it is situated about three miles north of Warrington town centre, nearby is junction 22 of the M6 and Junction 9 of the M62. Winwick also borders Newton-le-Willows and Burtonwood. According to the 2001 Census, the civil parish had a population of 4,366. History King Oswald of Northumbria is believed to have been killed in the Winwick area and the parish church, dedicated to him, was reputedly located with guidance from the "Winwick Pig", a carving of which can still be seen on the church wall. Birchwood is a town in the Borough of Warrington, Cheshire, England with a population of 11,395 (as at the 2001 census). Although physically and administratively part of Warrington, the civil parish council has named itself a town council.
