''Postmaster'' is a 2016 Bengali film based on Rabindranath Tagore's 1891 short story of the same name, directed and written by Srijon Bardhan, produced by Sri Media. The motion picture had its premiere on 7 December 2015 at the 4th Delhi International Film Festival, later being released commercially on 24 June 2016 at Star Theatres, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The film was also selected at the 14th Chennai International Film Festival, in 2017. Rabindranath Tagore
Rabindranath Tagore (; bn, রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর; 7 May 1861 – 7 August 1941) was a Bengali polymath who worked as a poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer and painter. He reshaped Bengali literature and music as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Star Theatre, Kolkata
The Star Theatre is a theatre in Hatibagan, Kolkata. It was built in 1883. Initially situated in Beadon Street, the theatre later moved to Cornwallis Street - now called Bidhan Sarani. The Star, along with the Minerva Theatre, was one of the first institutions of commercial Bengali theatre. History and overview The Star, along with Minerva and The Classic Theatre, were also one of the places where the first motion pictures in Bengal, made by Hira Lala Sen, were screened. It is a heritage site of Calcutta (Kolkata) that was destroyed in a fire and thereafter restored by the local municipal corporation. Anwesshaa (born Anwesha Mita Dattagupta; 15 December 1993, changed her artist name to Anwesshaa /sup>) is an Indian singer and composer in Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi and others Indian languages. Lalon ( bn, লালন; 14 October 1772 – 17 October 1890), also known as Lalon Shah, Lalon Fakir, Shahji and titled Fakir, Shah, was a prominent Bengali spiritual leader, philosopher, mystic poet and social reformer.
