Posthumous Award
A posthumous award is an award that is granted after the recipient has died. Many prizes, medals, and awards can be granted posthumously. Military decorations Military decorations, such as the Victoria Cross or the Medal of Honor, are often given posthumously. The title Hero of the Soviet Union was posthumously given, but the Gold Star medal was not awarded itself. During World War II, many countries practiced the granting of posthumous awards. In the Soviet Union, the only posthumous award that was physically awarded was the Order of the Patriotic War. All other awards were not physically awarded. Until 1977, upon the death of an awardee, all medals and awards were returned. Less commonly, certain prizes, medals, and awards are granted ''only'' posthumously, especially those that honor people who died in service to a particular cause. Such awards include the Confederate Medal of Honor award, to Confederate veterans who distinguished themselves conspicuously during the Amer ...

Posthumous Publication
Posthumous publication refers to publishing of creative work after the creator's death. This can be because the creator died during the publishing process or before the work was completed. It can also be because the creator chose to delay publication until after their death. Reasons for posthumous publication Death before planned publication A creator may die when publication was planned during their lifetime and the material is ready for publication in its final form. For example, the composer Jonathan Larson died the day before his musical ''Rent'' opened off-Broadway. When Stieg Larsson died, he had submitted the first two of the Millennium novel series to a publisher. A carbon copy of '' A Confederacy of Dunces'' by John Kennedy Toole was found by his mother after his death in 1969. It w ...

Reception

Posthumous (EP)
''Posthumous'' is a five track EP from the American hardcore punk/metalcore band, The Banner. Originally recorded as the band's first (and unnamed) demo (while the band was still known by their original moniker, Bruce Banner), it was handed out at the band's local shows to fans and attendees. As a result of the popular demo tape, the band won a contract with local New Jersey punk specialist label, Blackout! Records. The demo was then renamed "Posthumous" and re-released as a CD-EP. It was the first of two recordings the band released with Blackout! before leaving for Ferret Music. It was released in June, 2003. Overview Debate continues over what genre this band fits into and this EP was probably where it all started. The opening track, "Outgunned", has metal qualities – including Slayer-like riff flourishes, but the vocal style throughout is undeniably hardcore punk. "Rattlesnakes", "The Screaming", and "Marked For Life", on the other hand are more in the straightforwar ...
