Ashley Postell
Ashley Postell (born June 9, 1986) is an American former artistic gymnast. Postell was a member of the United States national gymnastics team from 1997 to 2004. During that time she was the world champion on balance beam in 2002 and the national champion on Floor (gymnastics), floor exercise in 2003. She was also the bronze medalist in the all-around at the 2002 US Nationals and the 2003 American Cup. In 2004, Postell competed in the US National Championships with the hope of qualifying to Olympic trials, but she placed 13th after a fall on the uneven bars and was named an alternate for the trials. Postell was later invited to attend the trials after a qualified athlete had to withdraw due to injury, but declined because she had taken a break from training after initially missing out and thus was no longer in competition shape, and she felt that the opportunity should be given to "someone who was more ready". Lavor Postell
Andre Lavor Postell (born February 26, 1978) is an American former professional basketball player. Following a college career at St. John's University, he was selected by the New York Knicks in the second round of the 2000 NBA draft. He played three seasons with the Knicks showing promise when Allan Houston and Latrell Sprewell were sidelined by injuries. During his career, Postell played in 61 games and averaged 3.2 points. His final NBA game was played on April 15, 2003, in a 93–109 loss to the Indiana Pacers where he recorded 4 points and 1 assist. After playing in the NBA, Postell played in Europe and Latin America. At the age of 35, he enlisted in the US Army. James Postell Douglas
James Postell Douglas (born Lancaster, South Carolina, January 7, 1836; died Texas, November 27, 1901) was a soldier, politician, and businessman in the state of Texas. He is regarded as the founder of the Cotton Belt Route, a major railroad system connecting Texas and Arkansas north to St. Louis, Missouri. Douglas' parents Alexander and Margaret Douglas moved their family from South Carolina to Talladega, Alabama in 1838 and then to Texas in 1847, settling in Tyler in 1848. After his father died in 1854, Douglas supported the family by working as a school principal while reading law. In 1859 he purchased half-ownership in the ''Tyler Reporter'' newspaper (now the ''Tyler Courier-Times'') and became its editor. After the Civil War broke out, Douglas helped raise a battery of artillery and became a first lieutenant.
