Possessive Dancer
Possessive Dancer (14 May 1988 – after 2002) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. In a racing career which lasted from November 1990 until May 1992 she competed in four countries and won five of her eight races. After winning her only start as a juvenile in 1990, she showed relentless improvement in the first half of the following year, winning two handicap races before taking the Oaks d'Italia and the Irish Oaks. She failed to reproduce her best form in her three subsequent races and was retired from racing in 1992. She had some success as a broodmare. Background Possessive Dancer was a bay mare bred in the United Kingdom by Walter Swinburn Limited. During her racing career she was owned by Ahmed Al Maktoum and trained by Alex Scott in Newmarket, Suffolk. Shareef Dancer (1980–1999) was an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. Background Shareef Dancer was sired by Northern Dancer out of the mare Sweet Alliance by Sir Ivor. Jet Ski Lady (foaled 20 February 1988) was an American-bred, Irish-trained thoroughbred racehorse, best known for winning The Oaks in 1991. In a racing career which lasted from June 1990 to October 1991 the filly ran ten times and won four races. After winning twice as a two-year-old, Jet Ski Lady competed against colts with mixed success in early 1991 before winning the Classic Oaks over one and a half miles at Epsom Downs Racecourse. Her winning margin of ten lengths was the second-widest in the race's history and her starting price of 50/1 made her the equal longest-priced winner of the Oaks on record.
