''Posh Pop'' is a 2021 studio album by British singer Toyah Willcox, released by Demon Records. Background The album was written by Toyah and her longtime collaborator Simon Darlow who also produced the material. Willcox's husband Robert Fripp performs guitar under the alias Bobby Willcox. The album was recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic and its working title was ''Outside of Culture''. Every song on the album was accompanied by a music video filmed by Toyah herself during the 2021 spring lockdown, filmed largely in her Pershore house as well as the nearby Pershore Abbey. Lyrical content The opening track, "Levitate", originally called "Gravity", is "about potential, the future, letting go of the past and moving on, (...) about the unification of all of us". Toyah Willcox
Toyah Ann Willcox (born 18 May 1958) is an English singer-songwriter, actress, and television presenter. In a career spanning more than 40 years, she has had eight top 40 singles, released over 20 albums, written two books, appeared in over 40 stage plays and 10 feature films, and voiced and presented numerous television shows. Between 1977 and 1983, Willcox fronted the eponymous band Toyah (band), Toyah, before embarking on a solo career in the mid-1980s. At the Brit Awards 1982, Willcox was nominated for Brit Award for Best New Artist, British Breakthrough Act, and Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist, Best Female Solo Artist. Paul Stacey (born 27 September 1963) is a British guitarist and producer, best known for his work with Oasis, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Steven Wilson, and the Black Crowes. Biography Stacey's early work included the 1990s band, the Lemon Trees (with twin brother Jeremy Stacey on drums, Guy Chambers and others) and Denzil. It first appeared on the band's 1979 LP '' Sheep Farming in Barnet'', and a live version of the song was subsequently released as a single in 1980 by Safari Records to promote the concert album ''Toyah! Toyah! Toyah!''. Background The song was written by Toyah Willcox, Joel Bogen and Peter Bush.
