Porvenir Miraflores was a Peruvian football club, playing in the district of Miraflores, Lima, Peru. History The club was founded on the Miraflores District, Lima. The club was the winner of the 1956 and 1966 Segunda Division Peruana. The club has played at the highest level of Peruvian football on six occasions, from 1966 Torneo Descentralizado, 1966 until 1971 Torneo Descentralizado, 1971 when it was relegated. Copa Perú
The Copa Perú is a association football, football tournament in Peru. Despite its name, it is not entirely an elimination-cup competition involving all Peruvian clubs, but rather a series of league tournaments leading to an elimination tournament, with regional league clubs as participants. It guarantees its winner promotion to the professional Segunda División Peruana, Liga 2. History In 1966, the First Division was named ''Primera División Peruana, Descentralizado''; teams from outside the capital of Lima were allowed to participate in the professional first division. The following year, the Copa Perú began, in which all non-professional teams in Peru were allowed to compete, with the winner to gain promotion to the First Division. Raul Geller
Dr. Raul Geller (ראול גלר; born January 23, 1936) is a Peruvian-Israeli former professional footballer, who played as a forward, and an orthopedic surgeon. In Peru he played for Deportivo Municipal, Porvenir Miraflores, and the Peru national football team. In Israel, he is the third -leading scorer of all time of Beitar Jerusalem. His 0.64 goals per game ranks first. He also competed in soccer in the 1969 Maccabiah Games. In 2013, Geller was ranked #161 in the world in 75+ tennis by the International Tennis Federation. Early life Geller was born in Quillabamba, Peru. His father Marcus (Mordechai) played football in Poland, and fled it before the Holocaust to Peru. Peruvian División Intermedia (1926–1940)
The División Intermedia, the second division of Peruvian football (soccer) in 1926 until 1934, and the third division of Peruvian football (soccer) in 1935 until 1940. The tournament was played on a home-and-away round-robin basis. On August 23, 1922, the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) was founded and since 1926 tournaments began to be played under its organization. As the second category in the tournament system, the División Intermedia was found, which granted promotions to the champion ( and sometimes to the runner-up) to the Peruvian Primera División. Only the 1928 and 1931 editions did not give direct promotion but rather the classification to a promotion league.
