Popcorn (Romanian Music Style)
Popcorn is a subgenre of dance music that originated in Romania in the late 2000s. It is inspired by Europop and dance-pop, featuring house and trance rhythms and fast tempos. The arrangement is characterized by the use of syncopated synthesizers played in staccato, and brass. Instruments such as accordions were eventually also included in several popcorn songs, which were most commonly performed in English. History In Romania, dance music started growing in popularity in the underground scene after the fall of the Ceaușescu communist regime in 1989. Since then, the Mamaia resort had established itself as a venue for international DJs. Romania's entry into the European Union in 2007 facilitated local musicians' and songwriters' contact with international music. Inna
Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu (born 16 October 1986), known professionally as Inna (stylized in all caps), is a Romanian singer. Born in Mangalia and raised in Neptun, she studied political science at Ovidius University before meeting the Romanian trio Play & Win and pursuing a music career. She adopted the stage name "Alessandra" in 2008 and adopted a pop-rock style; later that year, she changed her stage name to "Inna" and began releasing house music. " Hot" (2008), her debut single, was a commercial success worldwide and topped the Romanian and ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Airplay chart, among others. Rate Your Music (often abbreviated to RYM) is an online collaborative database of music releases and films. Users can catalog items from their personal collection, review them, and assign ratings in a five-star rating system. The site also features community-based charts that track highest-rated releases. History Rate Your Music was founded on December 24, 2000, by Seattle resident Hossein Sharifi, who is still active on the site under the username "sharifi". ''Hot'' is the debut studio album by Romanian singer Inna, released on 4 August 2009 by Magic Records. Inna collaborated on the record with Romanian trio Play & Win, who entirely wrote, produced and arranged ''Hot'' at their Play & Win Studios in Constanța, Romania. It was described as an electronic dance music (EDM) album, with influences varying from trance, electro house and techno to Hi-NRG, synth-pop and chillout. Lyrically, ''Hot'' deals with love themes. Music critics gave the album positive to mixed reviews, praising the danceable style but criticizing its lack of innovation. Akcent
Akcent () is a Romanian dance pop group whose members sing in Romanian, English and Spanish. Their name originated as a wordplay on ''accent''. The group was created by Adrian Sînă, and Ramona Barta. Their first single "" ("I don't care about anyone") received positive reactions from critics and became the reason Catalin Muraru signed them to Roton in 1999. They released their debut album in 2000. Except for the first track, "", which received some airplay, the album was a commercial failure and the band disbanded. Marco & Seba, previously known as Play & Win are a Romanian singer-songwriter and music production duo formed in 2000 by Radu Bolfea, Marcel Botezan and Sebastian Barac. Since then, they have been making music without Bolfea. They are a leading production team having more than 500 songs to their credit registered at the PRS. Trial And Execution Of Nicolae And Elena Ceaușescu
The trial of Nicolae and Elena Ceaușescu was held on 25 December 1989 by an Exceptional Military Tribunal, a drumhead court-martial created at the request of a newly formed group called the National Salvation Front.
