''Pop Machine the Album: A Collective of Artists Turning Heads This 2020'' is the third tribute album to the Philippine alternative rock band Eraserheads. It was released on June 12, 2020 by Noisemakers. The album features covers of Eraserheads songs as performed by Filipino artists, which were gradually released throughout late 2019 and early 2020. The title comes from the song “Pop Machine” from the band’s sixth album ''Natin99'' (1999). Content Leanne and Naara shared their experience covering " Alapaap" in an interview with Bandwagon Asia. "One of the really exciting things that we got to do for this track was the vocals," they said. "We just went crazy with it. It helped us get into this carefree mindset that is the very essence of this song." According to Lola Amour bassist Raymond King, his band's cover of "Shake Yer Head" was inspired by the song "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" by Stevie Wonder. Alapaap
"Alapaap" () is a song by the Philippine alternative rock band Eraserheads from their second album ''Circus'' (1994). Music and lyrics Along with other Philippine rock songs at the time such as "Iskolar ng Bayan" by Yano and "Laklak" by Teeth, "Alapaap" became a subject of controversy due to its suggestive lyrics, which Senator Tito Sotto saw as promoting drug use. Sotto, who was a member of the Citizens' Drug Watch, called for the song to be banned from radio in August 1995. The band responded with a letter to the senator stating that it was a misinterpretation and that the song was their "ode to freedom", not drug abuse. "That is freedom of expression," stated writer Ely Buendia. "''Gusto ko lang kumawala sa problema sa mundo, gusto ko lang lumaya'' (I just wanted to get out of the world's problems, I wanted to be free)." They also personally met with the senator, vowing to join the Junior DrugWatch for an anti-drug campaign. In a 2012 ''Esquire'' article, Buendia confirmed th ...

Minsan (Eraserheads Song)
"Minsan" (English: “Sometimes”) is a song by the Philippine alternative rock band Eraserheads from their second album ''Circus'' (1993). Composition The song is described as a nostalgic tune “fitting enough to be a graduation anthem”. Written by Ely Buendia, it mentions Kalayaan (translated as “freedom”), a dormitory building where he stayed while studying at UP Diliman. Buendia later debunked theories that the song was about his friendship with his bandmates in a podcast interview in 2021. “That song was actually about my actual friends — the friends that was with me during my stay at Kalayaan,” he said. His further comments that he was never close with his bandmates sparked online backlash, to which he responded: “The music is all that matters, have you forgotten about that, and who wrote most of it? Just sayin'.” Drummer Raimund Marasigan responded to Buendia's online comments by confirming that they only have a working relationship. “We would meet and ...

Poorman's Grave
"Poorman’s Grave" is a song by the Philippine alternative rock band Eraserheads from their third album ''Cutterpillow'' (1995). Composition The song was one of the first songs written by Ely Buendia before the ''Pop-U!'' demo tape. It was described as “dark, somber, and morbid” set to an “uppity beat” with rockabilly elements. The band was not able to record the song due to its dark subject matter prior to ''Cutterpillow''. “''Dehins siya bagay sa dalawang naunang albums'' in terms of sound and messages ''na gusto naming i-impart'' (It did not fit in our first two albums in terms of sound and messages that we wanted to impart),” said bassist Buddy Zabala. Buendia wrote the song about his father. He later regarded it as a song he is proud of writing in a 2012 ''Esquire'' article: “It came out from a real desire to express something that I felt at that time—which was, to put it bluntly, father issues, and not having the freedom of doing what you want at that age. ...
