Poolamacca Station
Poolamacca Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a sheep station in the outback of New South Wales. It is situated about north of Broken Hill and north east of Mannahill at the eastern end of the Barrier Range adjoining Sturts Meadows. The station currently occupies an area of . The abandoned township of Tarrawingee is situated within the boundaries of the station. The property was established in the 1860s with the first owners of the run being Messrs Jones and Goode. In 1867 a shepherd staged a hoax with a white quartz gold find that lead to an aborted gold rush to the area. The first property in the area was Mount Gipps Station In 1865 with Corona, Mundi Mundi and Poolamacca being established shortly afterwards. A pastoral lease, sometimes called a pastoral run, is an arrangement used in both Australia and New Zealand where government-owned Crown land is leased out to graziers for the purpose of livestock grazing on rangelands. Australia Pastoral leases exist in both Australian commonwealth law and state jurisdictions. They do not give all the rights that attach to freehold land: there are usually conditions which include a time period and the type of activity permitted. Sidney Kidman
Sir Sidney Kidman (9 May 18572 September 1935), known as Sid Kidman and popularly named "the Cattle King", was an Australian pastoralist and entrepreneur who owned or co-owned large areas of land in Australia in his lifetime. Early life Sidney Kidman was born on 9 May 1857 in Adelaide, in the colony of South Australia, the third son of George Kidman (died December 1857), farmer, and his wife Elizabeth Mary, née Nunn. Kidman was educated at private schools in Norwood and left his home near Adelaide at age 13 with only five shillings and a one-eyed horse that he had bought with his savings. Mundi Mundi
Mundi Mundi Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a sheep station in New South Wales. The property is situated approximately west of Broken Hill and north west of Menindee. Mundi Mundi is one of the four original stations in the Barrier Range settled through the early 1870s along with Mount Gipps, Corona and Alberta Stations. The property was established by the Whitting family who were running stock in the area from the 1860s when the property had an occupied an area of . The Whittings were running sheep but also were raising horses. The family were the first Europeans to settle in the Barrier Range and their daughter, Tryphena, was the first European to be born in the area. John Lewis had cattle stolen from the property in 1901. Lewis still owned the property in 1906 when he and other pastoralists in the area formed the Pastoralists' Association of West Darling.
