Pookah Makes Three
Pookah Makes Three were an electronic pop music group from the United Kingdom formed in 1981. The members were Martyn Watson and Mallett (Martyn Hallett); both former members of UK indie band Lost Touch. They released four singles for the 10 Records label (later a subsidiary of Virgin), with "Take It Back" being moderately successful. The group broke up in 1986 after their fourth single "Love Can't Be Far" failed to chart. Watson later joined Twelfth Night on bass guitar and vocals. He then became a successful talent scout, as well as working with artists including Patti Smith, Divinyls and David Bowie. Martyn Watson died in May, 2019. In 1989, Hallett joined Transvision Vamp on live drums. Virgin Records is a British record label owned by Universal Music Group. They were originally founded as a British independent record label in 1972 by entrepreneurs Richard Branson, Simon Draper, Nik Powell, and musician Tom Newman (musician), Tom Newman. Twelfth Night (band)
Twelfth Night are an English neo-prog band of the 1980s, reformed between 2007 and 2012 and again in 2014. The BBC has described them as Reading's biggest band of the 1980s. History Formation The seeds of Twelfth Night were sown when guitarist Andy Revell and drummer Brian Devoil joined forces on 23 February 1978 to win a talent competition at Reading University. The road crew included Geoff Mann as backdrop painter, and Rick Battersby as dry ice engineer. Devoil's previous musical experience was of various local bands in Reading, including ''Trash'' with whom he recorded a single ''"Priorities"'' released by Polydor in October the previous year. Divinyls () were an Australian rock band that were formed in Sydney in 1980. The band primarily consisted of vocalist Chrissy Amphlett and guitarist Mark McEntee. Amphlett garnered widespread attention for performing on stage in a school uniform and fishnet stockings, and she often used an illuminated neon tube as a prop for displaying aggression towards both band members and the audience. Originally a five-piece, the band underwent numerous line-up changes, with Amphlett and McEntee remaining as core members, before its dissolution in 1996. Transvision Vamp were a British pop rock band. Formed in 1986 by Nick Christian Sayer and Wendy James, the band enjoyed chart success in the late 1980s, particularly in 1989. James, the lead singer and focal-point of the group, attracted media attention with her sexually charged and rebellious image. Kent Music Report
The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music historian David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts.
