Pontypridd Association Football Club was a Welsh football team based in Pontypridd which existed between 1911 and 1926. History The club was founded as a professional football club in 1911 to "promote first class association football in the Pontypridd District". The club were based at Taff Vale Park in the nearby community Trefforest. Pontypridd AFC played in the Southern League between 1911 and 1926. The club also played in the Welsh League and were champions in the 1923–24 season. It was a finalist in the Welsh Cup in 1912, 1913 and 1921. The Dragons won the South Wales FA Senior Cup in 1925. Taff Vale Park
Taff Vale Park is a rugby union ground and former greyhound racing track in Treforest, Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Taff Vale Park is situated on the River Taff at the end of Nile Street in Treforest. It was originally fields adjacent to the Taff Vale Iron Works and was used by Pontypridd RFC who developed the site into a rugby ground playing there from the 1890–91 season until 1901 and again in 1907–08. It was then used by schools between 1900 and 1927 after being purchased by the Pontypridd Urban District Council Education Committee. Greyhound racing began in 1927 after the ground was sub-let to a greyhound company by the Athletic Club. It cost over £25,000 to convert the ground into a track, build kennels and improve the grandstand. Treforest () is a village in the south-east of Pontypridd, in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is situated in the Treforest electoral ward, along with the village of Glyntaff (or Glyn-Taf). It is part of the Pontypridd Town community. Treforest runs along the west bank of the River Taff (), while Glyntaff runs along its east bank. Treforest extends from immediately south-east of Ynysangharad Park, where the A4058 link from the A470 joins the A473 Broadway (south of the adjoining wards of Graig and Trallwn), all the way to join the Tonteg ward in the south (part of the community of Llantwit Fardre). The village is historically connected with the Crawshay family, who established a major tinplate works in 1835. The Welsh Football League (also known as the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh Football League for sponsorship reasons) was a club football league in Wales. For its final season in 2019–20 season it operated at levels 3 and 4 of the Welsh football league system.
