Maurizio Pollini (born 5 January 1942) is an Italian pianist. He is known for performances of compositions by Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy, among others. He has also championed and performed works by contemporary composers such as Pierre Boulez, Karlheinz Stockhausen, George Benjamin, Roberto Carnevale, Gianluca Cascioli and Bruno Maderna. Works composed for him include Luigi Nono's '' ..... sofferte onde serene ...'', Giacomo Manzoni's ''Masse: omaggio a Edgard Varèse'' and Salvatore Sciarrino's Fifth Sonata. Renato Pollini
Renato Pollini (8 February 1925 – 20 August 2010) was an Italian politician. Biography Pollini was a member of the Italian Communist Party and was elected Mayor of Grosseto on 29 July 1951. He was re-elected for other three terms in 1956, 1960 and 1964. Pollini served as assessor and member of the Regional Council of Tuscany from 1970 to 1985. Gino Pollini
Gino Pollini (19 January 1903 in Rovereto – 25 January 1991 in Milan) was an Italian architect. Life Gino Pollini was born in Rovereto on January 19, 1903, to Luigi Pollini, a shopkeeper, and Teresa Miori Pollini. At the time of Pollini's birth, Rovereto was part of Austria. After WWI, the city became part of the north eastern region of Trentino–Alto Adige in Italy. In 1921, he began studies at the Politecnico di Milano, taking courses off and on, and received his architecture degree in 1927. He married Renata Melotti, sister of sculptor Fausto Melotti and cousin of theorist Carlo Belli, in February 1931. They had a child Maurizio in 1942. John Pollini
John Pollini (born October 15, 1945 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American art historian, archeologist, and educator. A scholar of Ancient Rome, Pollini is the USC Associates Professor of Art History at the University of Southern California. Career Born in Boston to Isabell and Frederick, Pollini graduated magna cum laude from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Classics in 1968. He then continued on to the University of California, Berkeley, where he received a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in Ancient History and Mediterranean Archaeology, in 1973 and 1978 respectively. In 1979, Pollini began his teaching career as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics at Johns Hopkins University.
