Political Parties In Belize
This article lists political parties in the country of Belize. Belize has a two-party system, which means that there are two dominant political parties. It is difficult to achieve electoral success under the banner of any other party. Political culture In 1950, after the general worker union had been formed, the people's committee constituted itself as the PUP (People's United Party) and taken the majority seating in the elected Belize city council. When Belize became fully independent and joined in the Commonwealth on September 21, 1981, the two parties UDP (United Democratic Party) and PUP rose in the political scene. This made an effect two-party system. The UDP believes in pro-business and the PUP believes in pro-labour but both are closely centred in the spectrum. Belize
Belize (; bzj, Bileez) is a Caribbean and Central American country on the northeastern coast of Central America. It is bordered by Mexico to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the east, and Guatemala to the west and south. It also shares a water boundary with Honduras to the southeast. Patrick Faber (politician)
Patrick Jason Faber (born 21 March 1978) is a Belizean politician. He was the Leader of the Opposition. He formerly served as Minister of Education, Youth Sports and Culture. In July 2020 he was appointed the leader of the United Democratic Party, after Prime Minister Dean Barrow stated his plans to retire at the end of his term. Early life and education Faber was born in Belize City, Belize. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1998 from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia, as well as a Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida in 2003. He is currently working on a Doctor of Public Administration degree from Valdosta State University. National Reform Party (Belize)
The National Reform Party of Belize was a Belizean, Christian conservative political party seeking office during the 2008 Belizean general election under the following guiding principles. It failed to win any seats and has not contested any elections since. The National Party of Belize (NP) was a political party established mainly to fight the anti-colonialist movement propagated by the People's United Party (PUP). The Honduran Independence Party was a short-lived 1950s political party in Belize. It was essentially a splinter group of the People's United Party (PUP). Vision Inspired By The People
Vision Inspired by the People (VIP) is a political party established in December 2005 in the Cayo District of Belize. It first contested municipal elections in the capital city of Belmopan on 1 March 2006, receiving 20 percent of votes cast but none of the seven seats. VIP operates primarily in Belmopan, but also has a presence in the Belize and Corozal Districts. Along with the People's National Party, VIP is one of two minor parties which contested both the most recent Belizean general and municipal elections. It has yet to win a seat in the Belize House or a municipal election at the city or town level. Reformism
Reformism is a political doctrine advocating the reform of an existing system or institution instead of its abolition and replacement.
