Polish comics are comics written and produced in Poland. Very few of these comics have been published in languages other than Polish. Egmont Group
The Egmont Group (formerly The Gutenberghus Group) is a Danish media corporation founded and rooted in Copenhagen, Denmark. The business area of Egmont has traditionally been magazine publishing but has over the years evolved to comprise mass media generally. History and profile The Egmont Group was founded by Egmont Harald Petersen in 1878 as a one-man printing business, but soon became a magazine business. It was originally called "P. Petersen, Printers", named after Petersen's mother, as he was still too young at the time to register his own company. The company was renamed ''Gutenberghus'' in 1914 (after the famous inventor of the printing press), a name it kept until 1992. Since 1948 Gutenberghus, looking for new opportunities, sent its editor Dan Folke to Walt Disney Productions, and he managed to acquire a license for publishing comic magazines in Scandinavia. Marian Walentynowicz
Marian Walentynowicz (born 20 January 1896 in Saint Petersburg, Russian Empire, died 26 August 1967 in Warsaw, Poland) was a Polish graphic artist, architect, teacher, writer and a precursor to the comic book in Poland. He is probably best known for his collaboration as illustrator with Kornel Makuszyński in their creation of '' Koziołek Matołek'', a popular classic children's series about a billy goat. Life Walentynowicz studied Architecture at the Warsaw Polytechnic. During the 1930s he taught at the Women's Architectural Academy in Warsaw (). From the 1920s onwards he worked as an illustrator for various Warsaw publications. During the Second world war, he was the war correspondent attached to General Stanisław Maczek's First Panzer division. While with the Polish Forces, Walentynowicz stayed in London prior to the Normandy landings. Kornel Makuszyński
Kornel Makuszyński (; 8 January 1884 – 31 July 1953) was a Polish writer of children's and youth literature. Dorota Piasecka. ''Proza Kornela Makuszyńskiego dla młodego odbiorcy: zarys problematyki''. PWN. 1984. pp. 11, 34. He was an elected member of the prestigious Polish Academy of Literature in the interwar Poland. Life Makuszyński was born in Stryj in the Austrian Partition of Poland (now in Ukraine) to Edward and Julia née Ogonowska. He attended the Jan Długosz gymnasium in Lviv (Polish: ''Lwów''). While in school he wrote occasional poetry (he started writing at the age of 14). Makuszyński had his first poem published in 1902 in the newspaper ''Słowo Polskie'' (''Polish Word''), for which he soon became a theatrical critic.
