Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street (russian: Большая Покровская улица, lit=Greater Intercession Street. Short-name - Pokrovka) is the high street in the historical centre of Nizhny Novgorod and one of its oldest streets. Until 1917 it was considered a street for noblemen. Formed as the main street of the city by the end of the 18th century. It is considered an analogue of the Arbat in Moscow or 6-7 Lines of Vasilyevsky Island in St. Petersburg. History Russian Empire The street began to form in the Middle Ages. Then its direction was set on the road to Moscow. After the visit of Empress Catherine II, a new regular city plan was developed, providing for a quarterly system. In 1823 - 1824 the bell tower at the church of the Protection of the Holy Virgin (russian: Церковь Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы) was built. Pokrovka ( uk, Покровка; russian: link=no, Покровка) is a village in Mykolaiv Raion (district) in Mykolaiv Oblast of southern Ukraine, at about southwest by south ( SWbS) of the centre of Mykolaiv city. It belongs to Ochakiv urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. History Until 18 July 2020, Pokrovka was the administrative center of Ochakiv Raion. In July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Mykolaiv Oblast to four, Ochakiv Raion was merged into Mykolaiv Raion. The village came under attack and was occupied by Russian forces during the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Kyzyl-Suu ( ky, Кызыл-Суу, formerly known as ''Pokrovka'') is a village in the Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan. About 10km inland from Lake Issyk Kul on the A363 highway between Jeti-Ögüz resort and Barskoon, it is the capital of Jeti-Ögüz District. Its population was 15,075 in 2021. At the head of the Chong Kyzyl-Suu ('little red water') valley, it is a base for trekking into the 14,000 foot mountains to the south. Etymology Kyzyl-Suu is named for the "Kyzyl-Suu" river that runs through it. Kyzyl-Suu literally translates to "red water", in reference to the red clay which stains the water during periods of heavy rain.
