Point Pleasant Beach is a train station located in Point Pleasant Beach, in Ocean County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, on NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line. It is one of the most significant stops on the portion of the line between Long Branch and Bay Head. This station is located on one of the borough's major arteries, Arnold Avenue, Route 35, several blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, boardwalk, the Manasquan Inlet marina, and within the community's downtown business, shopping, dining and entertainment nexus. The station is handicapped-accessible. History Service at Point Pleasant Beach began on July 29, 1880 as part of the New York and Long Branch Railroad extension from Manasquan station. Manasquan Station
Manasquan is a railway station in Manasquan, New Jersey, United States. It is served by trains on NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line. In May 2011, ticket machines were installed on both sides of the station depot at Manasquan. Commuter parking is free at the station, but it shares its lot with the customers of the pub adjacent to the station. History The station originally opened in 1876 by the Central Railroad of New Jersey. In 1896, the depot was replaced by the one at Spring Lake station, Spring Lake. The depot was built out of wood from Philadelphia's agricultural exhibition in the celebration of the United States Centennial in 1876. The depot lasted on the site until March 30, 1996, when a fire ravaged the 120-year-old building while serving as the home of the local historical society. The fire-ravaged depot came down in May. The New York and Long Branch Railroad was a railroad in central New Jersey, running from Bay Head Junction in Bay Head to Perth Amboy, where it connected to the Central Railroad of New Jersey's Perth Amboy and Elizabethport Railroad. Manasquan Inlet
The Manasquan Inlet is an inlet that connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Manasquan River, dividing Monmouth and Ocean counties in the state of New Jersey. Passage to Bay Head Harbor and the Barnegat Bay is possible via the Point Pleasant Canal. The present Manasquan River Inlet was dug in the 1920s with the original inlet located at Stockton Lake.
