Point Isabel, Indiana
Point Isabel is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in central Green Township, Grant County, Indiana, United States. It lies at the intersection of State Roads 13 and 26. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 91. A post office was established at Point Isabel in 1859, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1911. Geography Point Isabel is located in southwestern Grant County. State Road 13 leads north to Swayzee and south to Elwood, while State Road 26 leads east to Fairmount and west to the southern outskirts of Kokomo. Indiana State Road 13
State Road 13 (SR 13) is a north–south state road in the US state of Indiana. The southern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Highway 36 (US 36) and SR 67, in the town of Fortville, and its northern terminus is at the Michigan state line. At its northern end, signage for SR 13 ends at the interchange with the Indiana Toll Road; the highway continues unsigned for an additional running concurrently with US 131 to the state line. The state road runs through six counties in central and north-central Indiana mostly through rural farm fields and small towns. Dating back to the early days of the state road system, SR 13 was first signed in the eastern and northeastern part of the state. Indiana State Road 37
State Road 37 (SR 37) is a major route in the U.S. state of Indiana, running as a four-lane divided highway for 110 miles of its course. At one time, the route ran from the southwest corner of the state to the northeast corner. In the pre-Interstate Highway era, Indiana 37 was the most direct route between Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. Interstate 69 has supplanted it as a through route, and State Road 37 now consists of two disconnected segments. The longer segment starts at Tell City on the Ohio River and ends in Marion in north central Indiana. Marion is a city in Grant County, Indiana, United States. The population was 29,948 as of the 2010 United States Census. The city is the county seat of Grant County. It is named for Francis Marion, a brigadier general from South Carolina in the American Revolutionary War. Elwood is a city in Madison and Tipton counties in the U.S. state of Indiana. The Madison County portion, which includes most of the city, is part of the Anderson, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the small portion in Tipton County is part of the Kokomo, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 8,614 at the 2010 census. History Elwood was laid out in 1853 under the name Duck Creek. It was incorporated as a city in 1891. Swayzee is a town in Sims Township, Grant County, Indiana, United States. The population was 981 at the 2010 census. On its welcome sign, Swayzee claims to be "the only Swayzee in the world." This motto is based on a story about a postcard sent by a serviceman overseas during World War II, which although being addressed only to "Swayzee", with no mention of Indiana or any other information, was still said to have been successfully delivered.
