A point-and-shoot camera, also known as a compact camera and sometimes abbreviated to P&S, is a still camera (either film or digital) designed primarily for simple operation. Most use focus free lenses or autofocus for focusing, automatic systems for setting the exposure options, and have flash units built in. They are popular for vernacular photography by people who do not consider themselves photographers but want easy-to-use cameras for snapshots of vacations, parties, reunions and other events. Most compact digital cameras use small 1/2.3-type (“1/2.3-inch”) image sensors, but since 2008, a few non-interchangeable lens compact cameras use a larger sensor such as 1.0-type (“1-inch”), APS-C (e.g. Fujifilm X100 series), or even full frame (e.g. Sony RX1 series). Point-and-shoot Interface
A point-and-shoot interface is an efficient object-oriented, text-based interface, usually presented on a non- GUI platform such as DOS or mainframe computers. In a point-and-shoot, many objects are displayed in a list, and to the left of each object is an input field. The operator interacts by moving the cursor to the desired object and marking it by typing a letter or number which represents a command or function. ''Point and Shoot'' is a 2014 documentary film written and directed by Marshall Curry. It was produced by Marshall Curry, Elizabeth Martin and Matthew VanDyke. Synopsis ''Point and Shoot'' tells the story of Matthew VanDyke, a sheltered 26-year-old who left his Baltimore home and set off on a self-described "crash course in manhood." While on a 35,000-mile motorcycle trip through Northern Africa and the Middle East, he struck up an unlikely friendship with a Libyan hippie. When revolution broke out in Libya, VanDyke decided to join his friend in the fight against dictator Muammar Gaddafi. With a gun in one hand and a camera in the other, VanDyke joined and documented the war until he was captured by Gaddafi forces and held for six months in solitary confinement. Matthew VanDyke
Matthew VanDyke (born June 11, 1979) is an American international security analyst, foreign fighter, media personality, documentary filmmaker, and founder of the non-profit organization Sons of Liberty International (SOLI). He first gained fame during the 2011 Libyan Civil War, Libyan Civil War as a foreign fighter on the side of the uprising against Muammar Gaddafi and as a prisoner of war. As a journalist and documentary filmmaker, VanDyke traveled throughout North Africa and the Middle East by motorcycle from 2007 to 2011. His experiences and observations during these four years led him to join the 2011 Libyan Civil War, Libyan Civil War as a rebel fighter. VanDyke has publicly supported revolutions in the MENA, Middle East, and North Africa, and has worked as a filmmaker in the Syrian Civil War and fought as an armed combatant.
