Podolian Dialect
Podolian or Podillian dialect () is a dialect of Ukrainian language spoken in the historical region of Podolia (, ''Podillia'') in central-western areas of Ukraine. It is usually classified as part of Southwestern Ukrainian dialects and is the easternmost dialect in the group. History Podolian dialect formed in the historical lands of the Kievan Rus, Rus' Principality of Terebovlia and the latter Podolian Voivodeship, Podolian and Bratslav Voivodeships of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Main features of the dialect were first described by Ivan Vahylevych in 1845. Ukrainian Language
Ukrainian (, ) is an East Slavic languages, East Slavic language, spoken primarily in Ukraine. It is the first language, first (native) language of a large majority of Ukrainians. Marko Vovchok
Marko Vovchok (, birth name: Mariia Vilinskа, surname by the first marriage: Markovych, surname by the second marriage: Lobach-Zhuchenko, ; 22 December 1833 – 10 August 1907) was a Ukrainian female writer of Russian descent. Her pen name, Marko Vovchok, was invented by Panteleimon Kulish. Her works had an anti-serfdom orientation and described the historical past of Ukraine. In the 1860s, Vovchok gained considerable literary fame in Ukraine after the publication in 1857 of a Ukrainian-language collection, "Folk Tales". In terms of literary fiction, Marko is considered to be one of the first influential modernist authors in Ukraine. Her works "shaped the development of the Ukrainian short story". The term Ukrainian literature () is normally used to describe works of literature written in the Ukrainian language. In a broader sense it can also relate to all literary works created in the territory of Ukraine. Ukrainian literature mostly developed under foreign domination over Ukraine, Ukrainian territories, foreign rule by the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, Second Polish Republic, Poland, the Russian Empire, the Kingdom of Romania, the Austria-Hungary Empire, and the Ottoman Empire, enriched Ukrainian culture and language, and Ukrainian authors were able to produce a rich literary heritage. Pit-house
A pit-house (or pit house, pithouse) is a house built in the ground and used for shelter. Stork
Storks are large, long-legged, long-necked wading birds with long, stout bills. They belong to the family Ciconiidae, and make up the order Ciconiiformes .
