Podgorac (Boljevac)
Podgorac ( sr-cyrl, Подгорац; ) is a village in the municipality of Boljevac, Serbia. Districts Of Serbia
The administrative districts () of Serbia are the country's first-level administrative divisions of Serbia, administrative division. The term ''okrug'' (pl. ''okruzi'') means "circuit" and corresponds (in literal meaning) to in the German language. It can be translated as "county", though it is generally rendered by the government as "district". Prior to a 2006 decree, the administrative districts were named simply districts. The local government reforms of 1992 created 29 districts, with the City of Belgrade having similar status. Following the 2008 Kosovo declaration of independence, the Districts of Kosovo, districts created by the UNMIK-Administration were adopted by Kosovo. Boljevac
Boljevac ( sr-cyr, Бољевац, ) is a town and municipality located in the Zaječar District of eastern Serbia. According to 2022 census, the population of the town was 2,894, while population of the municipality was 10,184. History From 1929 to 1941, Boljevac was part of the Morava Banovina of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In 2010, the Commission on Concealed Mass Graves in Serbia discovered a mass grave of people killed by Yugoslav Partisans during World War II in the settlement of Zmijanac. Đura Jakšić
Georgije "Đura" Jakšić (; 27 July 1832 – 16 November 1878) was a Serbian poet, painter, writer, dramatist and Bohemianism, bohemian. Biography Đura Jakšić was born as Georgije Jakšić in Srpska Crnja, Austrian Empire (present-day Serbia). His father was a Serbian Orthodox priest. Georgije's early education took place in Timișoara and Szeged. He lived for a time in Zrenjanin, where he began studying painting under Konstantin Danil. He later studied fine arts in Vienna and Munich but the Revolutions of 1848 in the Austrian Empire, revolution of 1848 interrupted his education, which he never finished. He took active part in the 1848 Revolution and was wounded while fighting in Srbobran. After the revolution he moved to Belgrade, Principality of Serbia, where he served as a schoolteacher, a lector in a state-owned printing office, and in various other jobs, although he was often unemployed. Predrag Balašević
Predrag Balašević (, sr-Cyrl, Предраг Балашевић; born 5 January 1974 in Podgorac) is a Serbian politician of Timok Vlach ethnicity who is currently the leader of the Vlach National Party. Biography Balašević created the Vlach National Party on 25 April 2004 in Bor to defend the rights of Timok Vlachs of Serbia. In 2008, he led the political coalition United Vlachs of Serbia formed between the Vlach National Party and two other Vlach parties. This was done with the intention of participating in the 2008 Serbian parliamentary election. For doing this, 10,516 signatures showing support to the coalition were submitted. The coalition presented 171 candidates in the elections.
