Plover's Eggs
Plover eggs were a form of eggs as food, and a seasonal delicacy of western Europe. Gathered from wild green-plover nests, a practice called plover egging, these eggs were perceived to be particularly flavorful and were snatched up by avid rural foragers and, in turn, their urban customers, as soon as nesting season began each year. In the manorial accounts of Nathaniel Bacon of Stiffkey in Norfolk, there is an entry in the 3 months to 24 March 1593 for 9 shillings paid "to Lodes & Tayler for 12 daies worke in makeinge of neaces for pewetes at Langham water", suggesting that plover egg collecting was here a commercial activity. ' (English: ''Dutch birds'') is a five volume Dutch language, Dutch natural history compendium, published in Amsterdam from 1770. It was published in installments and was finished in 1829. It was the first comprehensive avifauna of the Netherlands (which temporarily included Belgium during 1815 - 1830). This monumental work was written by Cornelius Nozeman, and after his death by Martinus Houttuyn. The last volume was finished by Jan Sepp, with advice from Coenraad Jacob Temminck. The colored engravings were made by Sepp family (publishing), Christiaan Sepp, Jan Christiaan Sepp (his son), and Jan Sepp (his grandson). Each volume contains 50 images of bird species. Piccadilly () is a road in the City of Westminster, London, England, to the south of Mayfair, between Hyde Park Corner in the west and Piccadilly Circus in the east. Georges Auguste Escoffier (; 28 October 1846 – 12 February 1935) was a French chef, restaurateur, and culinary writer who popularised and updated traditional French cooking methods.
