Surnames Of Jewish Origin
In many societies, a surname, family name, or last name is the mostly hereditary portion of one's personal name that indicates one's family. It is typically combined with a given name to form the full name of a person, although several given names and surnames are possible in the full name. In modern times most surnames are hereditary, although in most countries a person has a right to change their name. Depending on culture, the surname may be placed either at the start of a person's name, or at the end. The number of surnames given to an individual also varies: in most cases it is just one, but in Portuguese-speaking countries and many Spanish-speaking countries, two surnames (one inherited from the mother and another from the father) are used for legal purposes. Depending on culture, not all members of a family unit are required to have identical surnames. In some countries, surnames are modified depending on gender and family membership status of a person. Plotkin Bound
In the mathematics of coding theory, the Plotkin bound, named after Morris Plotkin, is a limit (or bound) on the maximum possible number of codewords in binary codes of given length ''n'' and given minimum distance ''d''. Statement of the bound A code is considered "binary" if the codewords use symbols from the binary alphabet \. In particular, if all codewords have a fixed length ''n'', then the binary code has length ''n''. Equivalently, in this case the codewords can be considered elements of vector space \mathbb_2^n over the finite field \mathbb_2. Let d be the minimum distance of C, i.e. :d = \min_ d(x,y) where d(x,y) is the Hamming distance between x and y. The expression A_(n,d) represents the maximum number of possible codewords in a binary code of length n and minimum distance d. The Plotkin bound places a limit on this expression. Theorem (Plotkin bound): i) If d is even and 2d > n , then : A_(n,d) \leq 2 \left\lfloor\frac\right\rfloor. ii) If d is odd and ...

Russian Jewish
The history of the Jews in Russia and areas historically connected with it goes back at least 1,500 years. Jews in Russia have historically constituted a large religious and ethnic diaspora; the Russian Empire at one time hosted the largest population of Jews in the world. Within these territories, the primarily Ashkenazi Jewish communities of many different areas flourished and developed many of modern Judaism's most distinctive theological and cultural traditions, while also facing periods of antisemitic discriminatory policies and persecution, including violent pogroms. Many analysts have noted a "renaissance" in the Jewish community inside Russia since the beginning of the 21st century;Renaissance of Jewish life in Russia
