''The Pledge'' is a panel discussion programme broadcast on Sky News. There are currently ten panellists, five of whom appear on the show each week. They discuss a variety of topics – there is no presenter, so each panellist champions a topic which is then debated. The programme was first announced in April 2016, and the first episode aired later that month, on 21 April 2016. The show is known for at times being controversial, and debates often get heated. ''The Pledge'' is currently not on air having been suspended in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is currently unknown when or if the show will return. ''A Gunfighter's Pledge'' (the working title was ''The Pledge'') is a 2008 American Western television film starring Luke Perry. The film premiered on Hallmark Channel in July 2008. Thomas Frederick de Pledge (1867–1954) was an Australian pioneer and pastoralist. The son of Reverend Joseph De Pledge, he was born in Durham in 1867. Educated at Aldenham in Hertfordshire, he left for Australia at age 18 aboard the ''Australind'' and disembarked at Fremantle. He set of for Bunbury and worked on a farm for less than a year then left for the Ashburton region. Working on a Minderoo Station for seven years for David Forrest and Septimus Burt he later moved to Globe Hill Station to work for McCrae and Harper, first of an overseer and then as a manager. In 1897 de Pledge was appointed as manager at Yanrey Station by the estate of John Stuart. He bought the property in 1898 when it occupied an area of and three years later acquired neighbouring properties; Yannangal and Yannaney. A pledge is a bailment that conveys possessory title to property owned by a debtor (the ''pledgor'') to a creditor (the ''pledgee'') to secure repayment for some debt or obligation and to the mutual benefit of both parties. The term is also used to denote the property which constitutes the security. The pledge is a type of security interest. Pledge is the ''pignus'' of Roman law, from which most of the modern European-based law on the subject is derived, but is generally a feature of even the most basic legal systems. It differs from hypothecation and from the more usual mortgage in that the pledge is in the possession of the pledgee. It is similar, however, in that all three can apply to personal and real property. A pledge of personal property is known as a pawn and that of real property is called an antichresis.
