Plectophila Discalis
''Plectophila discalis'' is a moth of the family Xyloryctidae first described by Francis Walker in 1865. It is found in Australia, where it has been recorded from New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. The wingspan is 20–25 mm. The forewings are white, in females with a light fuscous suffusion forming a cloudy fascia, its outer edge distinct and rectangularly angulated in the middle, from three-fifths of the costa to the inner margin before the anal angle, and occupying the entire dorsal two-thirds of the wing from the base up to this, except a cloudy white spot below the middle, sometimes sprinkled with dark fuscous longitudinally in the disc, and on the posterior margin of the fascia. In males, these markings are largely reduced or nearly obsolete, showing only partial indications of the posterior fascia and a small spot on the fold before middle. There is an irregular suffused fuscous streak along the hindmargin, the hindmarginal edge dark fuscous. The hindwings ar ... Plectophila Thrasycosma
''Plectophila thrasycosma'' is a moth in the family Xyloryctidae. It was described by Edward Meyrick in 1915. It is found in Australia, where it has been recorded from Queensland. The wingspan is 18–24 mm. The forewings are shining white with ochreous-brown markings. The costal edge is ochreous brown anteriorly and there is a fascia from the base of the costa along the dorsum to one-third, as well as a thick streak rising from this near the costa and running to the costa at one-third, then along the costa to three-fourths, extremity pointed. There is an oblique fascia rising from this at one-fourth, the posterior edge obtusely angulated, expanded on the dorsum so as to extend nearly from the middle to the tornus. There is also an irregular fascia running from the costal streak beyond the middle almost or quite to touch this at the tornus, then abruptly angulated upwards and running near the termen to the apex, with a more or less distinct prominence touching the termen in t ... Plectophila Placocosma
''Plectophila placocosma'' is a moth in the family Xyloryctidae. It was described by Oswald Bertram Lower in 1893. It is found in Australia, where it has been recorded from New South Wales. The wingspan The wingspan (or just span) of a bird or an airplane is the distance from one wingtip to the other wingtip. For example, the Boeing 777–200 has a wingspan of , and a wandering albatross (''Diomedea exulans'') caught in 1965 had a wingspan ... is about 14 mm. The forewings are white, slightly ochreous tinged and with a broad dark fuscous fascia suffused on the lower half, the anterior edge curved from one-sixth of the costa to one-sixth the inner margin. There is a large irregular fuscous patch on the costa beyond the middle, reaching more than half across the wing, the anterior edge preceded by a blackish discal spot. There is a large fuscous patch on the hind margin from the apex to the anal angle and a fuscous hindmarginal line, separated from the preceding patch ... The wingspan The wingspan (or just span) of a bird or an airplane is the distance from one wingtip to the other wingtip. For example, the Boeing 777–200 has a wingspan of , and a wandering albatross (''Diomedea exulans'') caught in 1965 had a wingspan ... is 14–18 mm. The forewings are white with fuscous markings which are diffused with ochreous, and irrorated (sprinkled) with black scales. There is a broad fascia from the fold opposite two-fifths the inner margin, the anterior border in two waves to one-third of the costa, and continued as a fine line toward the base, but not as far as the base, the posterior border is irregularly curved and toothed, nearly parallel to the anterior border, then curved along the costa, and gradually narrowing to a thinned out line at four-fifths ... For example, the Boeing 777–200 has a wingspan of , and a wandering albatross (''Diomedea exulans'') caught in 1965 had a wingspan ... is 15–16 mm. The forewings are silvery white with bright deep ochreous-brown markings, partially margined with light ochreous-yellowish scales and with a straight narrow fascia from the base of the costa to one-fourth of the inner margin. There is a streak from the upper extremity of this beneath the costa, bent up to the costa before the middle, and continued along the costa to four-fifths. The forewings are white with ochreous-fuscous markings, and the costal edge fuscous at the extreme base. There is a broad streak along the inner margin from one-fourth to the anal angle. From this arises a broad transverse bar crossing the disc at one-third, ceasing abruptly at one-third breadth of the wing from the costa. There is a very broad fascia from the costa beyond the middle to the anal angle, both margins irregularly dentate. A dark-fuscous longitudi ...
