Huntley Gordon
Huntley Ashworth Gordon (October 8, 1879 – December 7, 1956) was a Canadian actor who began his career in the Silent Film era. Profile Gordon was born in Montreal, Quebec, and educated in both Canada and England. He had various jobs including working in a bank, in a silver mine, contracting, as a commercial traveller, and being a cigarette factory owner before settling on the stage and at one time acted with Ethel Barrymore. His Broadway credits included ''Life'' (1914) and ''Our Mrs. McChesney'' (1915). He began his screen career in 1916 when given a chance by Thomas Ince. Gordon was once a model for Arrow Collars; he was once painted by American commercial illustrator J. C. Leyendecker. He served in the Canadian Army during World War I and began a career in motion pictures in England where he had been stationed during the war. Blanche Sarah Upright (née Caro; February 22, 1880 - April 3, 1948) was a writer in the United States. Her novel ''Valley of Content'' was adapted to film as '' Pleasure Mad'' in 1923 and staged in 1925. She appeared in the 1927 film '' Your Wife and Mine''. Joan Standing (21 June 1903 – 3 February 1979) was an English actress, best known for playing Nurse Briggs in the 1931 horror film ''Dracula''. She appeared in more than 60 films from 1919 to 1940, with the majority under contract with Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Studios. Biography Standing was born into the acting Standing family on 21 June 1903 in Worcestershire, England. She was the niece of the actors Guy Standing (1873–1937), Wyndham Standing (1880–1963) and Percy Standing (1882–1950). She was also the granddaughter of actor Herbert Standing (1846–1923) and cousin to actress Kay Hammond (1909–1980). As an actress, her first film was '' The Loves of Letty'' (1919). Her last film appearance was in ''Li'l Abner'' (1940). Standing married film camera operator Otto Pierce on 26 October 1927 and they had two children. She was widowed on 22 October 1957. Winifred Bryson (born Winifred Brison; December 20, 1892 – August 20, 1987) was an American actress of the stage and of silent films. Biography Bryson was a native of Los Angeles. She began to perform publicly in 1914 (A February 12, 1914, newspaper article says, "She has been on the stage for a year."), initially in the musical comedy stage, and in the drama ''Regeneration'' with Bert Lytell. She was the ingenue in a touring company headed by May Robson "for months". In 1916 she was the leading lady of the Baker Stock Company in Portland, Oregon. On Broadway Bryson portrayed Muriel in ''Lombardi, Ltd.'' (1917). Although her first film was ''Peer Gynt'' (1915), her real transition to motion pictures was in the film '' A Heart to Let'' (1921).
