Plazac
Plazac (; ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Dordogne Departments of France, department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. It is near the village of Les Eyzies and the city of Sarlat-la-Canéda. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Périgueux, bishops of Périgueux built a fortified residence in Plazac in the 12th-13th century. Its donjon was transformed into a bell tower in the 17th century. Its chapel is now the village church. One wing of the residence has been preserved. During World War II, Plazac sheltered the residents of Bootzheim (Alsace) who were evacuated. Bootzheim () is a Communes of France, commune in the Bas-Rhin Departments of France, department in Alsace in north-eastern France. Geography The village is located a few kilometres to the north of Marckolsheim. Adjacent municipalities are Mackenheim and Artolsheim. Economy Employment opportunities in the village are limited. The traditional economic focus of the region is Sélestat some fifteen kilometres (ten miles) to the west. The river crossing of Marckolsheim with its associated locks and hydro-electric power station offer employment opportunities: many low paid seasonal jobs are also provided by the Europa-Park theme park on the other side of the German border nearby. Sarlat-la-Canéda (; ), commonly known as Sarlat, is a commune in the southwestern French department of Dordogne, a part of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
