Plaza Cinema, Mumbai
Plaza is a single-screen cinema hall in the Dadar locality of Mumbai, Maharashtra. It has a single screen and a capacity of 880 seats. In the 1930s, the cinema was bought by Sakharam Govindji Keni from a Parsi owner. A 2005 The Times of India, Times of India reports informs that V. Shantaram trust sold their rights to run the cinema to Himani & Co., and that Kiran Shantaram, V. Shantaram's son and a trustee of the V. Shantaram trust was the general manager of the cinema. Kiran Shantaram is a former sheriff of Mumbai and the head of the Asian Film Foundation. The Plaza was one of the three cinema halls screening films in the seventh Asia-Pacific Film Festival, Asian Film Festival. It is an important theatre for the screening of Marathi cinema. Dadar ( ̪aːd̪əɾ is a densely populated residential and shopping neighbourhood in Mumbai. It is also a prominent railway and bus service hub with local and national connectivity. Bhakti Barve (10 September 1948 – 12 February 2001) was an Indian film, theatre and television actress in Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati. She is best known for her role in Kundan Shah's comedy '' Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro'' (1983), where she acted alongside Naseeruddin Shah, Satish Shah and Ravi Baswani. Raaj Kumar (born Kulbhushan Pandit; 8 October 1926 3 July 1996) was an Indian actor who worked in Hindi films. 1993 Bombay Bombings
The 1993 Bombay bombings were a series of 12 terrorist bombings that took place in Bombay, Maharashtra, on 12 March 1993. The single-day attacks resulted in 257 fatalities and 1,400 injuries. The attacks were coordinated by Dawood Ibrahim, leader of the Mumbai-based international organised crime syndicate D-Company. Ibrahim was believed to have ordered and helped organize the bombings through his subordinates Tiger Memon and Yakub Memon. Laxmikant Berde (26 October 1954 – 16 December 2004) was an Indian Marathi language film actor who appeared in several Marathi and Hindi movies. He was known for his highly energetic slapstick performances. Berde started his career as an employee in the production company Marathi Sahitya Sangh and then played supporting roles in a few Marathi stage plays. Dr.Shriram Lagoo (16 November 1927 – 17 December 2019) was an Indian film and theatre actor, in Hindi and Marathi, in addition to being an ENT Surgeon. He was known for his character roles in films.
