As of the 2020 census, the township population was 3,873, making it the most-populous municipality in Benzie County. Name Almira Township was named after the township's first female house-dwelling settler, Almira Burrell. History Solon Township was organized in October 1871. Communities * Cedar is a small unincorporated community at at the corners of sections five, six, seven and eight.
