PlatinumGames Inc. is a Japanese video game developer based in Osaka. It was founded in October 2007 as result of a merger between Seeds Inc. and Odd Inc. Capcom alumni Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba, and Hideki Kamiya founded Seeds Inc. after the closure of Clover Studio, while Odd Inc. was founded by Tatsuya Minami. A year after the studio was founded, video game publisher Sega announced that it would be publishing four intellectual properties developed by the company: '' MadWorld'', '' Infinite Space'', ''Bayonetta'', and '' Vanquish''. Their partnership later extended to include '' Anarchy Reigns''. Most of these games were met with positive reception. Bayonetta (video Game)
is a 2009 action-adventure game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Sega. It was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan in October 2009, and in North America and Europe in January 2010. It was released on Wii U in September 2014, Windows in April 2017, Nintendo Switch in February 2018, and PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in February 2020. ''Bayonetta'' takes place in Vigrid, a fictional city in Europe. The game stars the eponymous character, a witch who is capable of shapeshifting and using various firearms. She possesses magical attacks and she can use her hair to summon demons to dispatch her foes. The game features a rating system, which gives players a grade based on their performance, and a combat system similar to the ''Devil May Cry'' series. Hideki Kamiya
is a Japanese video game designer and director. He began his career in 1994 with Capcom, where he directed '' Resident Evil 2'' (1998), ''Devil May Cry'' (2001), '' Viewtiful Joe'' (2003), and '' Ōkami'' (2006). From 2004 to 2006, he worked for the Capcom subsidiary Clover Studio. After leaving Capcom, Kamiya and other former staff members founded PlatinumGames in 2006. Kamiya also served as vice president from 2017 to 2023. His projects with PlatinumGames include ''Bayonetta'' (2009) and '' The Wonderful 101'' (2013). In December 2024, it was announced he had formed an independent studio named Clovers Inc., with their first project being a sequel to ''Ōkami'' published by Capcom. He was named one of the top 100 game creators of all-time by ''IGN'' in 2009. Early life Kamiya was born in 1970 in Matsumoto in Nagano Prefecture. Astral Chain
is a 2019 action-adventure game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. The Wonderful 101
is a 2013 action-adventure game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo for the Wii U. The game was directed by Hideki Kamiya and produced by Atsushi Inaba. It was released in August 2013 in all major regions except North America, where it was released the following month. ''The Wonderful 101'' received generally positive reviews, but failed to meet sales expectations. A remastered version for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Windows, financed through crowdfunding, was released in May 2020. A version for Amazon Luna was made available in May 2021.
