Plastic Jesus (song)
"Plastic Jesus" is an American folk music, folk song written by Ed Rush and George Cromarty in 1957. They recorded it as a humorous ad spoof in 1962 as The Goldcoast Singers on World Pacific Records' ''Here They Are! The Goldcoast Singers'' (wp-1806). The authorship of the song has historically been incorrectly attributed to Ernie Marrs, who recorded a version in 1965, despite Rush and Cromarty being listed as the authors by ASCAP and by the song's publisher, EMI Music Publishing. Ernie Marrs is sometimes credited as the songwriter because of the folk music magazine ''Sing Out!'' (Volume 14, issue number 2, page 40) crediting a version of the lyrics and music to him. Plastic Jesus shares a melody with Woody Guthrie's Oklahoma Hills, "Oklahoma Hills". Snow Patrol are a Northern Irish–Scottish Rock music, rock band formed in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland, consisting of Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Nathan Connolly (guitar, backing vocals), and Johnny McDaid (piano, guitar, keyboards, backing vocals); Lightbody is the band's sole remaining original member. Rocky Votolato (born March 8, 1977, in Dallas, Texas, United States) is an American indie and folk singer-songwriter. He was also a member of the rock group Waxwing. in 2025, he started a new band called Suzzallo with bandmate Rudy Gajadhar on drums and former Schoolyard Heroes guitarist Steve Bonnell playing bass. Votolato currently lives in Seattle, Washington. Biography Rocky Votolato was formerly the singer of a punk quartet Waxwing in the 90s before leaving in 1999 to pursue a solo career.
