Plainfield High School (Connecticut)
Plainfield High School is located in Central Village, Connecticut. History In the spring of 1905, voters in the town of Plainfield established Plainfield High School to be located in a vacant room of the school building at Central Village. The town hired John Lee Chapman, the former superintendent of schools in Chester, Massachusetts, to be the principal and superintendent of all schools in Plainfield. The ''Hartford Courant'' reported in August of that year that the state comptoller had approved a high school tuition appropriation of $1,093.50 for Plainfield. The high school met in a room of Central Village Grammar School, "the two-story, wood-framed, one room Plainfield High School which shared space in the Central Village Grammar School after the disbanding of Plainfield Academy and the state statute requiring towns to provide a public high school education to residents". Plainfield High School - Central Campus, or PHS-CC, is a four-year public high school in Plainfield, Illinois, a southwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202, which also includes three other high schools: Plainfield South High School, Plainfield North High School and Plainfield East High School. Campus history The original building was destroyed by one of the worst tornadoes in Illinois history. The Plainfield Tornado, which was rated an F5, struck the town on August 28, 1990, one day before classes were scheduled to begin. Three faculty and staff members lost their lives during this storm. Plainfield South High School, or PSHS, is a four-year public high school located in Plainfield, Illinois, a southwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of the Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202, which also includes three other high schools: Plainfield Central High School, Plainfield North High School and Plainfield East High School.
