Pitt Meadows is a city within Metro Vancouver in southwestern British Columbia, Canada. Incorporated in 1914, it currently has a land area of with an estimate population of 19,498 as of 2024. Fraser River Flood Of 1948
The Fraser River flood of 1948 was the most devastating flooding to hit Greater Vancouver in living memory. That year's floods had more than 2,300 homes were destroyed, 16,000 people displaced, and a great number of livestock killed. The population of the Lower Fraser Valley at the time was only around 50,000. At the flood's height, the water level measured 7.6 m. Port Moody is a city in British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. James McMillan (fur Trader)
James McMillan (August 1783–26 January 1858) was a fur trader and explorer for the North West Company and Hudson's Bay Company. He led some of the earliest Surveying, surveys of the lower Fraser River and founded Fort Langley National Historic Site, Fort Langley for the HBC in 1827, and was its first Chief Trader. Metro Vancouver Electoral Area A is a part of Metro Vancouver in British Columbia. It includes several unincorporated areas: the University Endowment Lands and the University of British Columbia, west of the City of Vancouver; Bowyer, Passage, and Barnston Islands; the west side of Pitt Lake; the northern portion of Indian Arm; and a large area to the north of the North Shore that is mostly mountainous and sparsely populated except for certain subdivisions between Horseshoe Bay and the Village of Lions Bay.
