Pippi Longstocking (1969 Film)
''Pippi Longstocking'' (original Swedish title ''Här kommer Pippi Långstrump'', original German title: ''Pippi Langstrumpf'') is a 1969 Swedish/West German movie, based on the eponymous children's books by Astrid Lindgren with the cast of the 1969 TV series ''Pippi Longstocking''. The film consisted of re-edited footage from the TV series featuring a new soundtrack. It was produced by Beta Film, one of the German co-producers of the original show, while the Swedish TV series was still in post-production and has never been aired in Sweden. The movie was followed by ''Pippi Goes on Board'', released later in the same year. It was released in the US in 1973. Plot A mysterious young girl, Pippi Longstocking, moves into the abandoned Villa Villekulla. The redheaded Pippi, living alone but for a monkey called Mr. Nilsson and her horse Little Old Man, befriends two neighboring children, Tommy and Annika. Nils Olof "Olle" Hellbom (8 October 1925 – 5 June 1982) was a Swedish film director, film producer, producer, and screenwriter. He is most famous for directing films based on novels by Astrid Lindgren. His 1960 film ''The Children of Bullerbyn Village, Alla vi barn i Bullerbyn'' was entered into the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival. In 1978 at the 14th Guldbagge Awards he won the award for Guldbagge Award for Best Director, Best Director for his film ''The Brothers Lionheart (film), The Brothers Lionheart''. Villa Villekulla
Villa Villekulla is a fictional house that is the home of Pippi Longstocking, a character in a series of books by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. She lives there with her horse, Lilla Gubben, and monkey, Mr. Nilsson. Outside stands a tree that grows Sockerdricka, a soft drink sold in Sweden. 1969 series and 1970 feature films Until 1970, the physical house used during the TV series and some films starring Inger Nilsson was located in a garden belonging to the Gotland Regiment (P 18) in Visborgsslätt, Visby, on the Swedish island of Gotland. Carl Fredrik Walter Ola Ohlsson (12 June 1931 – 18 November 2023) was a Swedish actor. In 1956, Ohlsson won a scholarship to Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he made his stage debut as Tesman with Siân Phillips as the title character in ''Hedda Gabler'' in 1957, opening at The Duke of York's Theatre in London 3 December 1957, later at Det Nye Teatret in Oslo and at The Vanbrugh, RADA.
