Pipkins
''Pipkins'' (originally ''Inigo Pipkin'') is a British children's TV programme. Hartley Hare, Pig, Topov, Octavia and the gang were the stars of ATV's pre-school series which ran from January 1973 to 29 December 1981. ''Pipkins'' was one of the first children's programmes on British TV where the characters had regional accents: Pig had a Birmingham accent; Topov the monkey was a Cockney; Octavia the ostrich had a French accent; Pigeon had an Upper class English accent; Mrs Penguin had a Geordie accent; Uncle Hare had a West Country English accent; Sophie the cat had a non-regional English accent; and Moony the Badger had a Northern Ireland accent. Nigel Plaskitt (born 27 July 1950) is an English actor, puppeteer, producer, and stage and television director. Career His voice and puppetry talents have appeared on television shows such as ''Pipkins'' (for which he provided the narration, as well as voicing and operating the characters of Hartley Hare and Tortoise), ''Spitting Image'' and ''New Captain Scarlet''. George Woodbridge (actor)
George Arthur Woodbridge (16 February 1907 – 31 March 1973) was an English actor who appeared in films, television, and theatre ranging from the 1930s to the 1970s. Woodbridge's ruddy-cheeked complexion and West Country accent meant he often played publicans, policemen or yokels, most prominently in horror and comedy films alongside Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. Jonathan Kydd (actor)
Jonathan Kydd is a British actor, voice-over artist, narrator, writer, producer and podcaster, and the son of the late actor Sam Kydd. He has been on many TV shows but has been moderately successful as a voice actor, voicing video games, advertisements, corporates, documentaries and cartoons and being a regular in comedy episodes for BBC Radio 4. Sue Nicholls
Susan Frances Harmar Nicholls (born 23 November 1943) is an English actress. She is best known for her long-running role as Audrey Roberts in the soap opera '' Coronation Street'' (1979–1982, 1984–present). Her other roles on British television include '' Crossroads'' (1964–1968), '' The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin'' (1976–1979), and '' Rentaghost'' (1981–1984). Wayne Laryea
Wayne Laryea (born 11 April 1952) is a British musician and television actor. Laryea is best known to American audiences for his role as the bumblebee Harmony in ''The Bugaloos'' (1970), and to British viewers as Johnny in ''Pipkins'' (1973). In 1978, Laryea featured in the BBC's first black drama series, ''Empire Road'', and in ''Crown Court'' the same year as Bryon Whittaker. Early life Laryea's father Nathanal was from Ghana and after seasons with the international dance group 'Ballet Negro' had copied his own theatre show as Chief Odongo called 'African Frenzy Show' touring the UK and Scandinavia. Brummie Dialect
The Brummie dialect, or more formally the Birmingham dialect, is spoken by many people in Birmingham, England, and some of its surrounding area. "Brummie" is also a demonym for people from Birmingham. It is often erroneously used in referring to all accents of the West Midlands (county), West Midlands, as it is markedly distinct from the Black Country dialect, traditional accent of the adjacent Black Country, but modern-day population mobility has tended to blur the distinction. Population mobility has meant that to a degree, the Brummie accent extends into some parts of the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, but much of the accent within the borough might be considered to be closer to contemporary Received Pronunciation (RP). Monkey is a common name that may refer to most mammals of the infraorder Simiiformes, also known as simians.
