Pioneer Point
Pioneer Point is a pair of tall buildings in the Ilford area of London, United Kingdom. It is owned by Canadian Real Estate investors, RealStar. Pioneer Point North is 105 metres (344 feet) tall with 33 floors and Pioneer Point South is 82 metres (269 feet) tall with 25 floors. The mixed-use building contains residential units, a public gym, which occupies the second floor, and a restaurant. The buildings feature a lighting installation that displays daily video content with various colors, shapes, speeds, and directions. Pioneer Point opened in 2011 on the site of the former Pioneer Market. Tall Building
The world's tallest human-made structure is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (of the United Arab Emirates). The building gained the official title of "tallest building in the world" and the tallest self-supported structure at its opening on January 9, 2010. Burj Khalifa was developed by Emaar properties, designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and built by BESIX, Samsung Construction and Arabtec. Tall Buildings In London
St Paul's Cathedral, built in 1710, was the tallest building in London at until it was overtaken in 1963 by the Millbank Tower at , which in turn was overtaken by the BT Tower which topped out at tall in 1964. In the 1960s and 1970s several high-rise buildings were built, located sporadically, mostly in the western side of Central London with some in the City of London. The first true "skyscrapers" to be built in London were the NatWest Tower (now called Tower 42) which was completed in 1980 in the City of London at tall and One Canada Square which was completed in 1991 at and formed the centrepiece of the Canary Wharf development. The 2000s saw a boom in skyscraper building, mostly in the City of London and Canary Wharf.
