''Pinocchio'' is a two-episode Italian-British miniseries directed by Alberto Sironi, based on the 1883 novel ''The Adventures of Pinocchio'' by Carlo Collodi and filmed in English. It first aired on the Italian channel Rai 1 on November 1 and 2, 2008. The cast includes Robbie Kay as Pinocchio, Bob Hoskins as Geppetto, Luciana Littizzetto as a female Talking Cricket and Alessandro Gassman as Carlo Collodi. It was shot in Lazio and Tuscany, Italy. The Adventures Of Pinocchio
''The Adventures of Pinocchio'' ( ; , i.e. "The Adventures of Pinocchio. Story of a Puppet"), commonly shortened to ''Pinocchio'', is an 1883 Children's literature, children's fantasy novel by Italian author Carlo Collodi. It is about the mischievous adventures of an animated marionette named Pinocchio. He faces many perils and temptations, meets characters that teach him about life, and learns goodness before he achieves his heart's desire to become a human, real boy. The story was originally published in Serial (literature), serial form as ''The Story of a Puppet'' () in the , one of the earliest Italian weekly magazines for children, starting from 7 July 1881. Francesco Pannofino
Francesco Pannofino (born 14 November 1958) is an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Born in Pieve di Teco, Pannofino's parents originated from Locorotondo. Sometime after 1972, he and his family moved to Rome. In 1978, while waiting for a bus to take him to university so that he could undergo an algebra exam, Pannofino heard the sound of gunshots coming from a street nearby: what he heard was in fact Aldo Moro being kidnapped; he would later write a song based on those events, ''Il sequestro di stato'' (i.e. ''State abduction''), which appears in the soundtrack of Felice Farina's 2014 film ''Patria (2014 film), Patria'' featuring him in the main role. The Fox And The Cat
The Fox and the Cat () are a pair of fictional characters and antagonists of Italian writer Carlo Collodi's 1883 book ''Le avventure di Pinocchio'' (''The Adventures of Pinocchio''). They are depicted as poor con artists who hoodwink Pinocchio and attempt to murder him. They pretend to be disabled: the Fox lame and the Cat blind. The Fox appears to be more intelligent than the Cat, who usually limits himself to repeating the Fox's words. Role in the book Pinocchio encounters the two after leaving Mangiafuoco's theatre with five gold sequins, whereupon the Fox claims to know Pinocchio's father Mister Geppetto and proposes to Pinocchio to visit the Land of Barn Owls (''Paese dei Barbagianni'') and thence to a 'Field of Miracles' (''Il campo dei Miracoli''), where coins can be grown into a money-producing tree. James Christian Hibbert is an English actor and writer. He is best known for his voice work with the animation studio Cosgrove Hall Films. Early life James Christian Hibbert was born as the eldest of three children of author Christopher Hibbert and Susan Hibbert. His younger brother was the late music journalist Tom Hibbert. Candlewick, also called Lampwick or Candleflame ( ) is a fictional character who appears in Carlo Collodi's 1883 book ''The Adventures of Pinocchio'' (). Role Candlewick is introduced in chapter 30 of ''The Adventures of Pinocchio''. His real name is Romeo, though he is given his nickname on account of his slender, polished build. He is described as the most unruly of Pinocchio's class, though he is the puppet’s best friend. The Fairy with Turquoise Hair (), often simply referred to as the Blue Fairy (), is a fictional character in the 1883 Italian book ''The Adventures of Pinocchio'' by Carlo Collodi, repeatedly appearing at critical moments in Pinocchio's wanderings to admonish the little wooden puppet to avoid bad or risky behavior. Although the naïvely willful marionette initially resists her good advice, he later comes to follow her instruction. She in turn protects him, and later enables his assumption of human form, contrary to the prior wooden form. In the novel The Fairy with Turquoise Hair makes her first appearance in chapter XV, where she is portrayed as a young girl living in a house in the middle of a forest.
