Penia is an unincorporated community in Crisp County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. History Variant names are "Pina" and "Pinia". The name is indicative of the many pine trees at the original town site. A post office called Pinia was established in 1890, and remained in operation until 1908. Crisp County is a county located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 20,128. The county seat is Cordele. The county was created on August 17, 1905, from Dooly County and named for Georgia Congressman Charles Frederick Crisp. Crisp County comprises the Cordele, GA Micropolitan Statistical Area. Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of , of which is land and (3.0%) is water.
