A pine is any conifer tree or shrub in the genus ''Pinus'' () of the family Pinaceae. ''Pinus'' is the sole genus in the subfamily Pinoideae. ''World Flora Online'' accepts 134 species-rank taxa (119 species and 15 nothospecies) of pines as current, with additional synonyms, and ''Plants of the World Online'' 126 species-rank taxa (113 species and 13 nothospecies), making it the largest genus among the conifers. ''Araucaria heterophylla'' (synonym ''A. excelsa'') is a species of conifer. As its vernacular name Norfolk Island pine (or Norfolk pine) implies, the tree is endemic to Norfolk Island, an external territory of Australia located in the Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and New Caledonia. Pine Tree Riot
The Pine Tree Riot was an act of resistance to Great Britain, British royal authority undertaken by American colonists in Weare, New Hampshire, Weare, New Hampshire, on April 14, 1772, placing it among the disputes between the Crown, Crown and colonists that culminated in the American Revolution. In 1722, under the Broad Arrow Policy it became illegal to cut down white pine trees larger than 12 inches in diameter in New Hampshire in order to reserve them for use as Royal Navy masts. This law was not strictly enforced until 1766, when Governor Sir John Wentworth, 1st Baronet, John Wentworth began enforcing it. On April 13, 1772, Sheriff Benjamin Whiting and Deputy John Quigley discovered a sawmill in Weare, New Hampshire, violating this law. The Pine Tree Lumber Company Office Building is a historic building in Little Falls, Minnesota. It was built in 1891 as a headquarters for the Pine Tree Lumber Company, headed by Charles Weyerhaeuser and Richard Musser. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 5, 1985. With Little Falls was chosen as the location for the company because of its location on the Mississippi River and because of the Northern Pacific Railway that ran through the time. The business was a part of the "timber boom" years for Little Falls, a time of great development, notably reflected in the Little Falls Commercial Historic District. Details In 1960, Louis Sibbett "Dick" Wilson was commissioned by the founder members (including Walker Cupers) to fashion an outstanding golf course on lush, green, semi-tropical dairy farmland purchased from the Weaver's in Boynton Beach, Florida. Pine Tree Point is an Adirondack Great Camp on Upper St. Regis Lake. History Pine Tree Point was the camp of Frederick William Vanderbilt, a director of the New York Central Railroad for 61 years.
